I'd be a bit more disbelieving if he'd said he was Dick Bong :)

If you are going to make it up, you don't pick a pilot off a no name escort carrier that gets shot down.  Too bad the NBC folks don't know a Corsair from a Hellcat however since they showed Hellcats when they talked Corsairs

Interesting stuff.  That's always been the running joke in my family as my obsession with WW2 aviation goes back to that age too, and there were no pilots or vets in my family to get me interested.  But it's been a life long obsession from pre-school til now at age 48.

Wow, either that kid is really smart, or a ghost  :noid :noid :noid

And I always want to tell those idiots that none of those planes that they are showing are F4Us

Being a hog dweeb it made me cringe when they showed the wrong plane... but the rear gunner on the TBM should have noticed what he was holding was not a F4U and it doesnt add up... i think that yes its a re incarnation..... but.. the fact that their showing f6s in the video where he got shot down sorta kills my thoughts...

"No mom that's a droptank!"

"Drop tank?  I've never even heard of a drop tank before!"

That's evidence?  That's just not knowing planes, I don't see that as an amazing feat.

The rest of it is pretty interesting though.

The pilot, James M. Huston Jr. was shot down as a member of VC 81 flying an FM 2.  So, they weren't actually showing the TBM gunner with the wrong plane.  They just skipped the detailed details.  What "regular" tv viewer knows an F4u from an FM2?  First thing I thought was "Corsair on an escort carrier?  Uuummmm."

Intersting story though.

Boy you guys missed the boat on that one didnt ya! A WWII fighter pilot comes back to life and all you can talk about is a bunch of news guys too lazy to find footage of Corsairs in flight.  lol

Roscoe, the TBM gunner forgot his model corsair that day!

And I'd say any 2 year old who can tell the difference between a drop tank and a bomb, let alone name it, is proof enough for me.

How are you ever going to prove or disprove this story unless you personally do as much or more investigating than the journalist? Do you ever believe what you hear in the media?  When someone who knows the parents well, comes out and calls them frauds I'll have reason to doubt their story. Until then, I think I ran across ol James back in '43.  lol

WOW RumbleB I see you've figured out the secrets of the universe before the rest of the world. When you gonna tell me how I can create a woman who doesnt talk or spend money?

Kids soak up info like sponges, hell, I was 5 yrs old and had WW2 a/c books around, and could name a few, ect. I think the idea that its reincarnation is highly dubious. More like grown ups hearing what they want to hear.

I’m the last person you would meet that would believe in reincarnation but if you check out the beginning of the documentary, It shows a picture of the pilot in question standing next to a corsair so we can’t discount the story because of the ignorance of the reporter.

The two items the kid received from the pilot’s sister were a corsair and a bust of GW. I find it really hard to believe that this kid at 2-4 years old would know the name of the carrier, the friend, where he was shot down and how he was shot down unless one of two things happened here.

Either the story is true or the parents are liars and sat him in a corner and coached him through it. I don’t see a third possibility and I didn’t get the impression that the dad or mom would offer their son up for a little bit of lime light. Their isn’t anything to gain from it. This one gave me pause.
