Hard to discount the sexism she has had to deal with over the last couple of years. I think she got a raw deal from the media in general and is treated despicably by some of the conservative pundits. The big difference is that she is attacked by liberals as well and using her sex as a weapon is no different than attacking Obama due to his race. Overall I feel that if the same were done to Obama during the race we would be calling for some people's heads on a platter ala Don Imus.

Or maybe her personality drives people away. Boy or girl, an axehole is still an axehole.
I'd love to sit you down with my cousin the Secret Service guy. He has served at the White House since the Reagan years. His opinion of Hill has nothing to do with her being a woman. It has everything to do with her being an axehole.
Just a thought.
-
Hillery was too conservative for the media, and she paid the price at Obama's benefit. Just wait to see how much balance the somewhat more conservative liberal McCain receives from the media as we move forward.
I do find it funny, though, to see both Billy and Hillery so distraught about the evil media. Bill has been particulary pissed, even pissed at Soros and Move On. How quickly the media worm turns when another golden boy captures their far left imagination and how angry the previous golden boy and girl feel as a result.

Doesn't matter Toad. While that may be true enough, the sexism is still pervasive and wrong. Her personality, regardless of how it is perceived is still no excuse for the treatment she has received based solely on her sex.

at some point we must all face the world on the world's terms. in my opinion women pretty much gum up anything they are involved in. I'm all for barefooted, pregnant and in the kitchen. they create far less havoc that way even if they can't really cook worth a cent at least they do clean up fairly well. now there are exceptions to this rule but bye and large it applies uniformly. ask any man who has to deal with women in the field of first responder, law enforcement or in a combat MOS how they feel about working with women.

I think her down fall was caused by her back peddling on issues. For example, I'm from NY and our Governor (Spitzer) at the time wanted to issue illegal aliens drivers licences. Hillary was all for it and backed him 100% till public opinion said 75% of the state was against it. So there Hillary was back peddling saying she didn't agree with it. Besides she's been a Senator in NY for a few years and hasn't done much here at all. Good riddance IMHO.
-
MT, her general arrogance turned people off, along with her inability to admit mistakes.
Sad too, because on an issue by issue basis I'm closer to her politically than I am Obama or McBush.
-
Doesn't matter Toad. While that may be true enough, the sexism is still pervasive and wrong. Her personality, regardless of how it is perceived is still no excuse for the treatment she has received based solely on her sex.
How can you attribute it solely to her sex? Maybe they knifed her because she's an axehole?

By that logic it is no problem to use the "N" when talking about a black man as long as he is an axehole. Really?
-
Hillary would have made a great president. I think the primary was very well played by Obama, he defiantly appeared to take the high road by the media. I'm not sure sexism had as much to play as did her campaign staff making poor decisions.
On a side note, after 8 years of Obama, Hillary will make a good president.
-
Race trumped sex among the democrats. I find it distasteful that either would be THE reason for voting for someone but after all, I'm not a democrat.
-
I see something interesting going on here in the democratic party. There were most definitely 2 camps marching somewhat parallel. I saw the clinton machine trying to maintain control of the party and exercising the fund raising expertise they have. I also see the kennedy clan now starting to try and regain camelot or at least the control of the democratic party. The telling items were the vigorous support of obama by ted and the appointing of caroline kennedy to obama's VP search engine. It's a contest of dynasties in search of power. I wonder who the kennedy's will be grooming to maintain the position later on. Perhaps they feel caroline will gain the exposure and "experience" to try and run based on her family's tragedies.
-
MT, Hillary lost because 1) Bill said alot of stupid things, 2) Her campaign was mismanaged and 3) She was percieved as arrogant.
Gender had nothing to do with Hillary's defeat, MT- so quit acting like a girl.
-
:rofl
-
Hillary lost because Obama had a much better campaign strategy and paid attention to the caucuses. This of course has absolutely nothing to do with the misogynistic doings of the press. Lets all try to stay on topic here. She was treated shabbily BECAUSE she was a woman. The links I attached point out how.
-
By that logic it is no problem to use the "N" when talking about a black man as long as he is an axehole. Really?
Did the use the "w" word on Hillary? Called her a WOMAN? <GASP>
-
I am so glade I don't watch Chris Mathews, what a bum, as well as most of the rest of the news. Hillbillary got screwed coming out of Iowa. The media latched on to this nomination and turned it into a liberals wet dream, the ultimate affirmative action job placement of a man unqualified to hold the senate seat not alone the presidential seat.
-
MT... don't negros use the "N" word when talking about axeholes of their own race? Don't people "of color" use "white men" and "rednecks" and other derogatory terms for white males and get away with it constantly? In the end.. just words.
billary is just an abrasive person...even for a driven old lady. I agree with storch that in general.. women in charge just gum things up in a big way... conservative women not so much.
It is sooooooo easy to hate billary that any excuse to hate her more is good enough. You simply can't say enough bad things about her or the klinton machine.
unfortunately.. osama husien will be even worse if he gets any power.

-
Wait a minute... could this have been yet another vast right wing conspiracy against a Clinton? We all know the media in the US is extreme right wing.
-
Lots and lots of wonderful excuses for bad behavior... I hope none of you have daughters.
-
I have a granddaughter, does that count?
I intend to tell her that "what goes around, comes around". If you're an axehole... red, white, blue, green, purple or black... .or if you're a man or woman or an indeterminant sex..... being an axehole has a way of coming back around to bite you in the axe.
I think you have an INCREDIBLY uphill battle to show that Hill lost the nomination solely because she was a "W" ( I'm afraid to use the whole "W" word!).
As has been pointed out, there are a variety of reasons that she isn't the chosen one.
-
I never said that Toad, why are you trying to change the subject? Can't argue against my actual point?
-
I have a grand daughter and a daughter and if they acted like billary.. I would hope that people would treat them badly. I would hope that such treatment would give them a hint and burn through whatever driven arrogance and lack of empathy drove them to be such axeholes.
lazs
-
So it would be OK by you to have them attacked for their looks, their voice, their hair style...etc. When the people doing the attacking really just disagree with their politics? Amazing.
-
Your points:
Hard to discount the sexism she has had to deal with over the last couple of years. I think she got a raw deal from the media in general and is treated despicably by some of the conservative pundits.
Again, I think it's the fact she's been an axehole to just about everyone that has caused her to have to deal with people that view her in a negative light.
Raw deal from the media? How so? She got treated like a candidate by a previously overwhelmingly Clinton-favorable liberal media.
Conservative pundits don't like her? Um, which Democratic candidate did they praise and fawn over? I missed it.
The big difference is that she is attacked by liberals as well
Libs don't like her? This is a change; before the Clintons could do no wrong. Guess she must have P.O.'d them?
and using her sex as a weapon is no different than attacking Obama due to his race.
Got any specific text examples? I'm not one to watch vids; I read faster than they talk and they put me to sleep.
Overall I feel that if the same were done to Obama during the race we would be calling for some people's heads on a platter ala Don Imus.
Again, specific examples please.
-
yeah MT.. no other candidate has EVER been treated badly because he was an axehole.. and by treated badly I mean his hair style or looks or clothes or voice or whatever.
I have seen republicans who were pilloried by the liberal media because of their voice or hairstyle or clothes.
I think this is sour grapes on your part (and your links) and "hoisted on her own petard) in the case of billary...
Who would have thought that the liberal media would have used the same tactics on billary that they used on republicans cause... wait for it... cause billary was not liberal enough!
It is funny in the extreme. Why is it only dirty pool if it is billary or a woman or race or whatever?

She lost ONLY because Obama is black. Appears that a lot of democrats are not color blind. Will you deny this?
-
I'll miss her. I keep humming "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead".
Although I suspect she is like one of those horror movie monsters that just as you think the hero is safe and and the monster destroyed, she'll jump back up and attack when Obama has his back turned. Only after Dean and Pellosi hold her down while Obama pounds a big wooden steak thru her shrivelled black heart as she bears her fangs with a blood curdling screach, will the movie really be over.
I WILL miss Hillary. For the comedy value if nothing else.

Obama's race certainly helped him more than it hurt, but it is by no means the "only" reason he won.
Once again, Hillary didn't lose because of the actions of the press and pundits. I'm just pointing out how shabbily she was treated and how the standard for evenhandedness regarding race has not yet been transfered to gender.
-
Why is it only dirty pool if it is billary or a woman or race or whatever?
lazs
Because, and I hesitate to have to point out the obvious here, people don't choose their race or gender. It is unfair and kind of stupid to use something like race or gender as a means of attack on someone.
-
She lost ONLY because Obama is black. Appears that a lot of democrats are not color blind. Will you deny this?
That, and as soon as Bill started stumping for her and appeared on stage with her at rallies, the first thing that jumps' to mind is Vincent Foster, Whitewater, and the Monica Lewinsky scandal. And those get tied to Hillary as much as Bill. It's no wonder that it seems' like Obama's track record is invisible, next to the Clintons.

The so called liberal media can still be masogonist. I totally agree that a lot of hate for Hillary is due to the fact that she sounds like "nagging wife" and she is a woman. Also, if you disagree with someone's political ideaologies and/or policies, does that make them a "bad" person?
-
Obama's race certainly helped him more than it hurt, but it is by no means the "only" reason he won.

It may not be the only reason everyone who picked him did, but if he were white, Hillary would now be the nominee, meaning race was the deciding factor.
-
It may not be the only reason everyone who picked him did, but if he were white, Hillary would now be the nominee, meaning race was the deciding factor.
Wrong. If anything he earned the nomination because of the great campaign, his great speeches, and most of all the fact that he connected with many Americans (I forgot....Oprah too). Why would anyone vote for president out of pitty (It's only the most powerful position in the world)? Throughout his life he has accomplished many things through hard work, not because of his skin color.
-
Oh for Christs sakes MT, buy a clue.
-
It's no wonder that it seems' like Obama's track record is invisible, next to the Clintons.
His track record was invisible because there was NOTHING about it in the media--Barack won some 13 primaries in a row with a majority of primary voters knowing not much more than he was a distinguished-looking-speaking black senator from Chicago. Had the Reverend Wright/Trinity Church business (which was there ALL ALONG) come out 2 weeks before Super Tuesday, Hillary would be graciously accepting Barack's concession right about now. Bill and Hillary are like a jilted lover who have yet to come to terms with the fact that their lover (the mainstream media) has found someone new, and thus no more fawning, fault-glossing-over coverage
-
Once again, Hillary didn't lose because of the actions of the press and pundits. I'm just pointing out how shabbily she was treated and how the standard for evenhandedness regarding race has not yet been transfered to gender.
OH BOOO HOOOO. She got "treated" badly because she's a woman?? How about she got treated badly because her and her husband are dirty crooks that have been involved in more scandals and questionable ventures than any other political family in this country? I'd bet a years salary they have more skeletons in the closet than the Kennedy's do, and that's saying allot.
She didn't want to be president so she could work for this country, she wanted it because she's a greedy sweety who wants nothing more than power to herself.
I honestly hope Obama picks her as his running mate for VP. McCain would be a sure thing if that happened.

I think this is on topic:

The worst enemy of Hillary Clinton was and has always been Hillary Clinton.
It has nothing to do with the fact she is a woman
The Clinton machine gernered significant power in the Democratic party and she made a significant amount of enemies.
the way I understand it.
Democratic party members didnt respect Hillary. in fact many of them dont even like her.
They feared her.
She stepped on alot of toes on the way up and made alot of enemies in the proccess.
No doubt she stepped on a few toes with connections to the media as well
Now its payback time
I found it rather amusing how so many democratic party members and superdelegates were behind her until it looked as though Obamam might actually stand a chance. Then instead of helping to prop their "friend" up. They bailed like rats from a sinking ship
Like the saying goes.
Beware of who's toes you step on now.
They might belong to the same person whos arse you have to kiss later.
P.S.
Besides.
She would have made a terrible president. Just as bad as Bush.
She's too devisive
People eaither love her or loath her.
We just went through 8 years of a devisive leader.
-
It may not be the only reason everyone who picked him did, but if he were white, Hillary would now be the nominee, meaning race was the deciding factor.
I think that is absolutely correct.
-
It may not be the only reason everyone who picked him did, but if he were white, Hillary would now be the nominee, meaning race was the deciding factor
If he were white, he would just be a 1st term senator from Illinois. How many other 1st term senators can we even name? Guilty white liberals are tripping over themselves tryin to vote for this guy whom they know next to nothing about, and the people close to him universally refer to this as a racist country
-
Geez, I can't believe you guys are picking on Hillary, after she ran dodging sniper bullets and mortar rounds in Bosnia with a bayonet clenched between her teeth just to secure your freedoms.
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
The woman couldn't even keep Bill from doing the wild thing with every skirt he came across, how could anyone expect her to run a country and try to keep the evil leaders of the world in check?
-

I have NO problem with a woman being pres..............
Hillary is something else all together!
Ya I know you like her MT but everything I've heard come out of her mouth makes me shudder!
Got NO use for her or Boxer or Fienstien and not overly fond of Polosie either.
None of em could get my vote!
And it's NOT because their female it's because of their POLITICS!
To me all of those I've mentioned are ANTI-FREEDOM types that want to control EVERYTHING!
-
MT,
you make an assertion that Hillary's treatment was due to her sex not to the fact that is is a witch and ask the question why?
Then every time someone challenges the assertion, you cry "off topic"
-
I guess there's just no possible way that the truth could be that the media just didn't like her any more, and they decided they'd make an issue of her gender. Just like they'd make an issue of any feature to damage anyone else they didn't like. And yes, I do have a daughter, and no, I'm not concerned for her because of the way the media treated Hillary Clinton. My daughter isn't concerned either. She got her prettythang kicked MT, as much by the Clinton arrogance, and by the machinations of her own party, as anything else. And she appears to have won the popular vote. But you don't hear Dean and the Democrats howling about that, or counting all of Florida and Michigan. But then, things went "their" way, didn't they? Funny, ain't it?
-
Throughout his life he has accomplished many things through hard work, not because of his skin color.
What has he accomplished that would make him a good POTUS?
-
What has he accomplished that would make him a good POTUS?
And that, in comparison to what everyone else has accomplished..
-
If he were white, he would just be a 1st term senator from Illinois.
What concerns me how a junior Senator has had a meteoric rise in fame/popularity/power, there is alot more beneath the surface than is being released to the public.
No, I don't like The Republican choice either... in fact, I don't think the common man really has a choice this November. Lets see, experience (and probably 4 more years of the same) with known baggage or inexperience (with possibly disastrous results) with unknown baggage?
There is always the 3rd choice to stay home, and guess what people with realistic views will do?
-
Vote on the known quantity? A non-vote is a vote given to those who'd vote against your vote.
-
So, if I don't come to write in a vote for 'Mickey Mouse', someone else may vote for 'Daffy Duck' instead?
It really doesn't matter which I vote for, both choices are poor.
-
Dunno what to tell you. There's no excuse for not voting.
-
It's all a dreary bother to me. Hillary's prob is not that she's a woman. It's that many folk dislike her. Rationally or irrationally. The internet doesn't help. The rise of the "gotcha" police.
Motive is not all. And it explains much. Not all, but much.
-
Hitler doesn`t get much good press here either. Even though the two share much in common, he was a male.
-
This is what I'm talking about.
Mike Barnicle on MSNBC said Clinton "look[ed] like everyone's first wife standing outside a probate court."
Bill Kristol on Fox News said that among the only people supporting Hillary Clinton were white women, and "[w]hite women are a problem, that's, you know -- we all live with that."
CNN's Jack Cafferty likened Clinton to "a scolding mother, talking down to a child."
Fox News' Neil Cavuto suggested Clinton was "trying to run away from this tough, kind of squeaky image."
MSNBC's Tucker Carlson announced that "when [Clinton] comes on television, I involuntarily cross my legs."
Christopher Hitchens on CNBC described Clinton as being "sort of alternately soppy and squeaky.'"
All the rest are from Chris Matthews
repeatedly likened Clinton to "Nurse Ratched," the scheming, heartless character from the mental hospital drama One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest;
described her laugh as a "cackle," suggested she was "anti-male," "witchy,"
referred to Clinton as "Madame Defarge" and described male politicians who endorsed Clinton as "castratos in the eunuch chorus";
compared Clinton to a "strip-teaser," wondered whether she was "a convincing mom,"
claimed that "some men" say Clinton's voice sounds like "fingernails on a blackboard."
There are many more in the vids I posted.
Now if any of these personal attacks referred to race instead of gender, heads would role.
No, she didn't lose because of these attacks, but the fact that they occurred speaks volumes about where we are as a society. Sad that so many are willing to dismiss these attacks based on their hatred for Hillary. Doubly sad that there are women on this board who are willing to stand for it.
-
exactly. I've seen the video and heard all those quotes. None of them sounds like an attack on a woman. They are attacks on a witch
-

heh... are you trying to be ironic?

Of all the quotes you posted.
I could only see two or threee that could be interpeted as anti woman.
the rest seemed to be more anti Hillary discriptions.
And severall that were dead balls accurate I might add
"CNN's Jack Cafferty likened Clinton to "a scolding mother, talking down to a child."

-
yep MT.. you are really stretching to make a point... of course you would liken a woman who is as bad as her to stereotypes of her gender.. I notice you do not get all upset when "black leaders" cry "uncle tom" or "redneck" or any of a myriad of male stereotypes.
You did not get upset about osamabama husien talking about old white guys clinging to guns and religion... you don't get upset when males are likened to stupid or unpleasant male stereotypes.
This is typical liberal... it is all good fun so long as it is some liberal socialist commentator or entertainer or buffoon like jon stewart skewering white males or republicans but....
OHHHH NOOOOO's!!! don't make fun of the negro or the woman!!! That is misogony and racism...
You sir are a hypocrite. I don't mean an evil one tho.. just one who hasn't thought it through.
If hillary did not fit the descriptions or if they were truely attacks on women in general... people would be outraged.
Just as some men embody the worst of the worst features of maleness.. hillary embodies the worst of the worst features of women (and some of the worst of men) I will even go further and say that osama husien embodies some of the worst features of both of his races. That is not a slam on negros or whites but on the man.

The problem with a novelty candidate isn't the forces that align to defeat them but more commonly the frivolous nature of their support. From what little conversation I've had on the subject it seems that both Dem candidates were benefiting from the "It's about time" mentality (the same mindset that got Carter elected). I have yet to hear an Obama/Clinton supporter actually reference their platforms when voicing support. It's either a associative critique on the Bush administration or just blind support for having a "minority" in office irrespective of who that individual is. i.e. "It's about time we get a woman/AA president." Which is historically the most dangerous form of racism/sexism.
To me it shows a fairly imbecilic attitude towards the office and the constituency it serves. Seems to me the Dem's fielded candidates that had the requisite special interest creds and the most recognizable, least offensive and politically innocuous backgrounds. The scary thing is that these are the two they came up with. Of course the other problem is that the Rep's, in light of this opposition stopped looking when they got to McCain.
-
I have never defended Obama for his remarks on guns and religion, nor did I ever say he was misquoted or misunderstood.
I think you need to look up the meaning of the word hypocrite. I am not a hypocrite due to the issues I don't bring up, only the ones I espouse that are directly contrary to my position. There are not enough fingers on my hand to point out all of the racial, gender or even age based discrimination happening every day. If you think that pointing out some other type of discrimination somehow diminishes the one I'm bringing up you are the confused one.
-
I don't know but any worthwhile person is open to the charge of hypocrisy. If it be defined espousing one thing and not doing so.
I say a better gauge is to know a person's ideals. I'm not talking about childish gibberish: silly idealistic stuff. But the serious and meaningful matters that some maturity brings. A person's "philosophy." Yes, that's more to the point.
A monstrosity of our times: the fellow whose summuom bonum begins and ends with them self. Some may brag that such be so, but often they're merely playing to the cheap seats for peer points, and it ain't necessarily so.
Funny, was thinking about hypocrisy just last night.
-
Summum bonum - highest ideal.
I had to look it up. Learn something new every day.
Thanks Hap

Many things perceived as race, age, or gender discrimination aren't necessarily illegal discrimination. If you're old and can't remember your birthday a potential employer is just in considering your inability. If you're female and can't lift 75lbs over your head the military is just in considering your inability. If you're black and speak only Ebonics an employer is just in considering your inability.

Where you'd promptly get sued for discrimination, lose the lawsuit and thus your business and the winner of the suit would go on a spending binge, end up broke in the gutter then blame it all on society when he killed 3 people while robbing a liquor store. He'd get sentenced to life in a minimum security prison. From there, he'd enjoy all the creature comforts of home at the tax payer's expense.
The original business owner commits suicide when he finds out his teenage daughter started turning tricks at age 14 in order to pay for her school lunches since her parents had become destitute. The girl becomes a meth addict and eventually is killed in a botched drug buy.
The wife leaves the broke husband shortly before the suicide. She runs off with the poolboy but is dumped in Las Vegas where she eeks out a living doing card tricks on a street corner. She is tragically caught in a gangster rap artist shootout crossfire while doing her signature card trick: "Ace in my hole". She lingers painfully in the hospital for several days but dies when it is determined she has no insurance and is not a minority so her life support is halted.
The owner's son drops out of high school to join the San Francisco Gay Pride celebration. There he meets up with a closet gay TV Televangilist. He is then killed under dubious circumstances. Rumors circulate that the son was going to out his TV lover and was killed as a result.

perhaps I use too broad a definition of hypocrite... I think not tho. I think that seeing examples of slurs based on race and religion and gender in every front and then being only concerned about them when they are against someone that you like.. ignoring the slurs that person herself puts out there....
To me.. that is indeed a form of hypocrite. If by nothing more than omission. To be outraged (real of feigned) when it is your guy being skewered but ignore it when they do the same of when others you like do.. is to me, a form of hypocrite.
Me.. I am for free speech.. you should be able to slam anyone you want based on their race creed or color.. there are no hate words in my world of free speech.. only responsibility.. if the words don't ring true then they are slander or will be ignored.. to tiptoe around em is abhorent and wrong.
hillary is everything and more that people say about her.. she embodies some of the worst traits of women in power or women in general. She is also running for office and fair game.
She is not above saying the most vile things about others either.

Spot on.

So it would be OK by you to have them attacked for their looks, their voice, their hair style...etc. When the people doing the attacking really just disagree with their politics? Amazing.
Sen Edwards was given flak for his hair and he isn't even a woman.
GW Bush is given lots of flak for his word usage and he isn't even a woman.
Dukakis was given flak for his hat choice (tank commander) and he isn't even a woman.
Lincoln was attacked because of his looks, his speaking voice, and his church affiliation (or lack thereof) and he wasn't even a woman.
Welcome to big time politics.

She is not above saying the most vile things about others either.

I am in complete agreement.

If only Cindy would run for office.... Oh yah, she IS, it's just that they don't even notice in San Francisco :rofl :rofl

last year, if you disliked Hillary and her politics, you were a mysogonist and afraid of women in power (not naming names MT)
NOW, Hillary has asked her supporters to back Obama.
You should be on board, because your dreams of "reparations", socialism, and even more affirmative action may now finally come true...
except, NOW, if you dislike Obama and his politics, you are a racist... is that about right?
-

How can you attack someone for something they have no control over (race, sex etc. ) and find any intellectual justification. This is one of the silliest points I've ever read on these boards.
-
mt.. Like I said.. if they are just stupid then they will be ignored. If you attack someone based only on their skin color.. most will just ignore it and think you are stupid. If it is true... if you say only negros get sickle cell say.. then so what? Why do some people feel that they can create some kind of utopia where everyone acts the way that they think people should?
I want no part of your utopia.. it is hell to me. I want no part of hillary or the half white guy or the democratic party with it's individual crushing utopia.
What is funny tho.. is that it is still alright in said utopia for a jon stewart or a really vile negro comedian to exist. But... if one of the anointed is being lambasted... a liberal...
Well.. that is just not fair and moral is it? Open your friggin eyes fer chrisakes.

It seems to me that the Democrat campaign is a testament to the logical extension of the gooey multiculti identity politics that they espouse. I don't see evidence of pervasive misogyny in the rejection of Ms. Clinton, there are many excellent reasons to reject her irrespective of her sex.
-

Clinton has no control over her attitude and philosophy?
-

That seems to be the entire point ~ rejection of Ms. Clinton has nothing to do with her sex... and making the claim that "oh, poor Hillary's being discriminated against because she's a woman" is shifting the emphasis entirely to the false notion that it has nothing to do with her venemous spirit. Same 'ole blame-shifting, responsibility-dodging crap that has been a staple of the democratic party.
Face it, the woman's just a real b*tch. And if she were a man... she'd be a real b*stard.
-
Sadly, there are those, including at least one on this board, who put blinders on when it comes to raging liberals. They would come to Hillary's defense with the "you're picking on her because she is a woman" crap, just as some will immediately place the race card, without a single glance at the realities involved.
They need to do the research, go beyond what a Hillary website would try to tell you. Don't form an opinion about a candidate just because that candidate pays lip service to the things you want to hear. Listen to those who have had experiences with the candidate, read histories, consider when grand juries had to be formed to investigate a candidate, and do whatever is needed to become informed.
-
Hard to discount the sexism she has had to deal with over the last couple of years.
CNN covers misogyny
http://hillaryclintonnews.blogspot.com/2008/05/cnn-covers-misogyny-in-media.html
Sexism Sells
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-IrhRSwF9U
And when do you think the media became less than honest? When Hillary ran for office? Perhaps the media has been moving from news to propaganda for years? Think about that the next time you dismiss the idea that global warming could be media hype.
For the record I think she was covered in a sexist manner. I think Obama is being covered in a racist manner, i.e., he is receiving less scrutiny because he is black. But this is nothing new. News flash - the media is biased, rivaling the propaganda of TASS and Pravda. Conservatives have experienced their bias for years.
-
Ya know, as the campaign progressed, I found myself almost liking Hillary---kept having to remind myself she doesn't believe much of what she says (as opposed to Obama, who doesn't actually say anything to not believe in). I could almost picture her as president, and not shove a spoon in my eye :aok

Blinders? Ironicaly funny stuff there Dago.
Let me try to help those of you who don't seem to get it.
If for example I were to point out that Dago is wrong because he was short and ugly, that would be wrong. If I on the other hand were to point out that he is wrong due to his beliefs or writings then that would be perfectly all right.
If I were to say Txmom was wrong due to her shrill voice or excess estrogen, that would be wrong. If on the other hand I were to point out that she seems to be blind to the misonyny that is rampant around her and that affects all women, including Hillary, I would be correct.
-
Clinton's political flaws are merely a bad voice and fat hips?? LOL
-
Let me try to help those of you who don't seem to get it.
I don't think you're the only liberal on this board, yet you persist in your assertion that EVERYone else is wrong, and you're right. When Bush takes such a stance, it is fodder for ridicule on your part. Would you had shown this much compassion in 1993 for the White House travel office, a collection of LIFEtime federal employees (non-politically appointed) who were framed and fired at Hillary's behest, so she could put some Arkansas cronies in there (Bloodworth-Thomason people) Firing these people wasn't enough, they actually tried to have them put in JAIL

I guess you are trying to be the definitive example of ironic here, as you have been trying to say Hillary went down the tubes because she is a woman, all the while ignoring who Hillary really is, despite all the information available.
Maybe you wrote your little diatribe while running and dodgine snipers bullets?
Maybe you were busy firing the White House travel staff at the time?
Maybe you were busy screaming and swearing at Secret Service agents?
ETC, ETC, ETC?
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut occasionally, open your eyes and mind for a brief moment and think a little.

Blind? Nope. If/when I encounter misogyny (personally), I drive on regardless, and capable of attaining success without whining "...but... but... but I'm a girrrrrl! And they don't like it... and they're being meeeeean." And you can't use a claim of misogyny to give an excuse on your own personal failings. Instead, you keep on keeping on until you're successful. We'll see in the future if Hillary has that grit. She's actually a very savvy person, and has already achieved a great level of success in all aspects of her life because of that. Man or woman (or black or white or hispanic), you gotta give that to her. She's not gone for good, that's for sure.
Doesn't change the fact that she's a real b*tch, and she'd never have my vote.
-
Raw deal from the media? How so? She got treated like a candidate by a previously overwhelmingly Clinton-favorable liberal media...
Libs don't like her? This is a change; before the Clintons could do no wrong. Guess she must have P.O.'d them?
Great points. They used to kiss her tail at every chance they could. Now she's actually being treated like she's "just one of the guys."
-
as you have been trying to say Hillary went down the tubes because she is a woman,
I never said that.
-

Yea, but Obama ain't being treated as "just one of the guys." He's being treated as a Messiah.

Here is a big MEDIA opinion as to WHY Hillary didn't do so well................
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1812050,00.html?xid=rss-topstories
And this part really bothers me!
""He has transcended traditional politics," she says."
This part might be a good thing?
"Clinton and her supporters have charged that sexism is responsible for her loss of the nomination. But it seems more likely that women themselves cost her the nod. The reasons more women haven't voted for Clinton tell us something about the evolution of feminism and what the future may hold for female politicians."
VERY interesting.................. ......

I really do not care why she lost out. I am grateful she did. Dodging that bullet certainly reduces the angst about this election.
I am just curious why the Democrats seem hell bent on destroying what should be a certain victory in November.
-
That? It's just built into a Democrat's DNA. Same reason they get uncontrollable twitches when someone says "tax cut" within their hearing range.
:)
Saw a good article on Real Clear Politics saying the Dems could afford a higher risk candidate like Obama in this election because the voter base is likely to reject any Rep based on the the last 4 years of Boosh.
-
I understand the running joke about the Democrats always managing to blow it.
Yes, I see where they think they can run anyone and will not lose. But why risk it? The President is just a pawn to the party anyway. Why not insure a win with a reasonable candidate that can actually lay down a good story about how they will fix the ills the Bush regime has created?
The it whole strategy seems questionable to me.

Yah--if they were bound and determined to have a Black candidate, Harold Ford is a much more palatable guy to the middle

Because its not an organized conspiracy amongst the left wing media. Its a crescendo of emotion. They demand a black President. Their choice wouldn't be logical, its an emotional crap shoot. This is American President Idol.
-
It's a pity that Collin Powell has no intention of ever running. Condoleeza Rice has been so villified by the press and others that she isn't viable even though her qualifications dwarf both clinton and obama.
-

why not?
The republicans keep insisting on playing down to their level.
Its like they are in a competition with one another to see who can put up the worst people.
To paraphrase Lewis black
"One party gets up and says 'I GOT A REALLY BAD IDEA!!' and the other party says 'AND I CAN MAKE IT WORSE!!'”
And to quote Black exact.
This sums it up perfectly just change the candidates to the current ones and you will see we are right on track
In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.”
I too am glad Hillary is out.
Far as Im concerned the was the worst of all Evils.
When she finally made it official people around here were finally convinced I'd lost my mind when I went around singing
"Ding dong the B**** is dead. the wicked B****. the B**** is dead!...."
