$60 for OEM XP Pro
True or false?
And if it's tough to tell, whom would you buy an OEM from. Thinking about getting back in the air.

That site looks fishy. The design is like a domain name squatter site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_squatter
Anyways, I have an OEM XP Pro discs. I bought them through U of Wisconsin when I was in school. They offered discounts to students (about $35 for OS and $35 for XP Office). When I bought it, it was just the CD cases...no fancy box or anything. Says on my discs "For OEM Distribution or Retail use." Something like that.

Right, got one from New Egg some years ago. Will prob go that way since they've done right by me in the past.

I only buy OEM products like software if it comes with some hardware that I have purchased. Newegg, Mwave, various other stores online, etc...

Always be suspect of good deals on any Microsoft software. Microsoft controls the price at which their products can be sold at. There is usually little leeway in which any authorized reseller can alter the price.

Don't order from them. I found that site (posted about it in here too) and was dumb enough to order XP Pro with the Office 2007 bundle. They charged my credit card but nothing at all was sent to confirm the sale. A week passed and nothing, no responses to my emails or phone calls. Called up my bank, reported what happened and had the charge removed from my credit card. Probably will go through NewEgg to get a new copy as a back up in case I lose my existing copy of XP Pro.

That was a WHOIS on the domain owner. They are hiding their identity through a company called privacy protect.
