Hey, I've just recently formatted my computer... practically brand new. I checked my requirements and everything that is needed, I have. The problem is, after I actually install the game (I've already installed the AH2124 icon) by clicking on the Aces High II icon, the screen turns black like usual. Then the screen reverts back to my desktop and an internet explorer-related window pops up stating that there was an error with AH. No idea what is happening.
Any input is great. Thanks!

Try this:
Right click on the Icon that opens the game up, click Properties, click Compatibility tab, and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows 95"
-
it could be a hundred things. Did you install your sound drivers and video drivers after the formate? Did you upgrade your DX to ver 9? Is it a DUO core cpu, there is an issue with some needing a patch, other using the work around mentioned by Spikes. Running Dxdiag and posting the first 3rd here would help figuring out what the trouble might be.
-
Thanks guys. lemme try them as soon as i get everything else working. I did check my vid drivers and my soundcard as well. i have to install the speakers, but its not necessary so i didnt bother doing that yet. my DX is 9, yes i checked that. I'll get back to you when i attempt Spike's suggestion.

To you it might not be necessary, but to the game it is. If the game doesn't see a sound card, it will crash, it IS a requirement.
-
I'm haveing the exact same problem...
All drivers up to date ...
I get the first screen sometimes ,then black, then back to desktop ,but the game is still running the background.
I'm runnig an AMD @2.4 ghz
2gig Kingston ram
Asus 32 SLI Delux
GF 7950 gt
On board sound.....
thnx

The sound card is necessary but the requirements say that the speakers themselves are not. My sis' friend has still much to do to fix this computer so i'll dl the game after it's all done.
-
A DXDIAG output will go a long way to providing information needed to figure all this out.

You want all of this.?

It looks like you are running the currently released NVidia video card driver. I know that it seems okay for the 9800GTX, as we have one hear, but there seems to be some debate about how well it works with older video cards. I would suggest trying an earlier driver.
Be sure to remove the current driver first!!
And no, I really did not want the DXDIAG output posted. It is easier for me to read in email as I can get all of it and there are things in the lower half I like to check as well.
-
srry about that....
I just did put the newer driver in .
I was running one that was a couple dates older..
I was haveing the same poblem with the older driver also...
thnx
-
I may be misunderstanding what your problem is.
Are you saying the game minimizes upon startup? Or are you saying it is crashing before the clipboard becomes visible?
-
Sometimes the clipboard shows up for second ,and, you're right,it minimizes.
When I click on the minimized game, I get the clipboard fr a sec and then it minimizes again.
I can keep hittining it and get the same thing.
This after uninstalling and reinstalling the game a cpl times...
-
You have a program in running on your computer which is forcing the game to minimize. Some spyware programs are like that, as are some viruses.
The game will not auto-minimize on its own. There is not a circumstance that the game can get into which causes that.
Basically, Windows is doing it at the request of something else in your computer.
-
Ok..
That gives me somtn to look for.
I'll check it out.
Thnx
