Found my old disk (I bought it retail) going through some boxes. Unfortunately, I can't get the game to recognize my Pitch/Yaw/Roll on my joystick so it is unplayable in the flying sense.
Also, the graphics are incorrectly rendered (Directx 5 here) so its like flying on an acid trip.

Sounds like two good reasons to just bronze the disc, frame it and hang it on the wall. :D

I've got a ripoff of WarBirds that the History Channel relabeled and sold. It's fun sometimes, though a lot of the reasons I played it offline (Otto gunners mostly) are in Il-2.

You know---the game still exists---my whole squad just came over from Warbirds. I too, have my original box from the mid 90s---in another box---in storage.

I know the game still exists. It's just that CD is from Warbirds 2

No, no, the best version was 1.11. :aok The P-38L would have a perk value of 500 if it performed in AH like it did then, and don't forget that HT was the one who modeled it. All sorts of dingbats lined up to say the flight model was accurate, too, and would call anyone a whiner who criticized it. Based on the P-38L of AH, I guess they were wrong and the nay-sayers were right; time is a cruel teacher, but most people lack a good memory.

No matter what DX I had over the years I could never get that hardware version working properly. I always had to use the software rendered version (which looked like arse, hehehe) Doncha love those outward-line-circles for smoke trails?
I also find the hardware setup not as understanding as AH's.

Software rendering didn't work for me very well. Showed up as something pre-1991 graphics.

Exactly!!! Looked like arse!
I could sometimes get the DX version running, but if I ever went to the menus it would crash. I had to type in .plane xx randomly to get something to fly, and it would often crash in-flight.
