Title: My 1st SAPP "check ride"...
Post by: humble on June 11, 2008, 03:36:48 PM
After years of careful study I figured I was finally ready to see if I had what it takes...

Of course its not your flying, its your landing that counts. I thought I had it "made in the shade" till the tree moved. Alas after careful review the the left hand engine is still in "stock" condition. I thought that my smooth move from a flat inverted spin to a smooth backward landing might net me a bit of slack....but the rules are the rules. As lamented by Dos Gringos in "Two is blind" my IP gave me a zero when I clearly thought I deserved a 3....but not fear I will be back :D

You are progressing well, I see you were going for my patented SAPP Backflip landing, however I will need to see proof of you doing said backflip and landing inverted.

I had a hard enough time landing the darn thing going backward with the wheels down (dont ask me how it happened cause I dont know). Literally flipped out of the inverted spin and kissed down going backward...either the fire had busted the one wing or the "wobble" took em both out and left me going backward in a perfect "landing...hit record as soon as it happened but I was already down...wish I had been filming earlier. Only "backward" landing I've seen/heard of in my 8-9 years here :rofl

I really like the lack of outer wings and the engine nicely on fire.  I also see that the dual rudder removal techniques are working well.  Not everyone can back into a parking spot like Raptor. That also is a really nice touch.

Well done sir! :)

You also have an intact elevator and both booms intact. I will never qualify for SAPP membership because I either land my 38 in factory condition or leave it in a heap in the woods. Maybe I should try carrier landing......I tend to tear apart every other plane on a CV...hmmmmm  :pray

I'm inclined to give him credit for leaving the elevator intact.  Note he's using it to clear the bushes in his path.  It was good thinking :)

Nice! Would have been better if it was a belly landing and oil leaks on both props.  ;)

... we do have to take points off for not having bent either prop. The inverted landing is tuff enough without the bent prop, but we do wish you would try a bit harder to get at least one prop bent.

Thank-you for you submission, and keep up the good work !  <S>

Landing gear appears to be intact.   John Tesh would be hollering about "Technical Merit" right about then.

I do that on take-off easy.
