The Junkers Ju52 began it's existence as a single engined civilian aircraft. The Ju52 was a popular cargo aircraft around the world, used as by the Lufthansa and various private operators. Eventually it was decided that the single engine arrangement was not powerful enough, 3 Prat & Whitney Hornet and later 3 BMW 312 radial engines were put on the Ju52, now designated the Ju52/3m. The 3 engine configuration allowed it to carry 17 passengers as used by the Lufthansa.
The Ju52's military use by the Lufwaffe started in the Spanish Civil War, where it was used not only as a transport aircraft but also as a bomber. It was involved in the Bombing of Guernica in 1937 and later the bombing of Warsaw during the invasion of Poland. The Ju52 was the Luftwaffe's workhorse transport, being used in every theater that Germany was involved in. It was also used in aerial invasions, most notably the Invasion of Crete, where German paratroopers captured the island from the British.
The military version of the Ju52/3m was armed with 2-4 MG15 7.92mm machine guns (I've seen an MG131 thrown in as well) and could carry up to 500kg of bombs or 18 paratroopers. 'Tante Ju's' maimum speed was 171 MpH at 2,955 feet, with a service ceiling of 19,360ft. 4,845 Ju52's were made, more than the B29 and the P61 combined.
The Ju52 is one of the biggest holes in our plane set, as it was an Axis transport, which we desperately need, and it also was an early war Axis bomber, which we are short on.

Bring on "Iron Annie"!
-
This is on my short list. Yes to the 52! :D
-
IN!
Been asked many times but we still need it! :aok
-
I too would like to see it added, but would like it to carry 11 or 12 troops to offset its slower speed as compared to the C-47 and its standard load of 10 troops.
-
Liked the old 52 in WARBIRDS - it had 3 MG's you could at least "warn" a attack fighter off with. :D
-
Yes, The Iron Annie would have great new troops and supplies plane. I know it slower and such, but still, for those who want a total german base capture mission, this plane is a must.

yes

nice pick, I heard that Ju52 was the last one flying. the Ju52 is nice plane to see, and even nicer to hear.

Let's keep this thread up and first on the list by bumping it ;)
We really really need this one!
-
sry, this is something everone is asking for but still no ju52.
-
Would certainly be nice, especially for us Luft. fanatics.
:aok
-
How about we get German skinned paratroopers for it while we're at it ;)

Either that, or the S.M 79 which was almost the same as a JU52.
-
Bump hahah
-
Yeah, i would like to see this in the game too. IN :rock
-
It's not like there are none flying as I saw one at the Indianapolis Airshow at mount comfort airport last august. They should be able to glean all the data needed to include it in the game.
All the Best...

"Wings of the Luftwaffe" had their Iron Annie episode on last week and I loved it. Watching the history of this airplane is akin to watching the history of the war in Europe. We definitely need Iron Annie in the game.
