Title: Wondering if anyone has the individual files for this...
Post by: Yossarian on June 12, 2008, 07:37:19 PM
It's Robert Johnson's aircraft "Penrod and Sam" LM Q.

I'm thinking of making an offline mission trying to recreate his final battle, and this skin would be essential.  So if anyone has and would be willing to email me the original picture files for it, I'd really appreciate it.

I checked AH-Skins.com & didn't find it.  Try PMing Nomde.

I just searched his name on the BBS, apparently he was ill for a while, and his profile says he hasn't been active since January.

:huh

I assume you mean my post is incomprehensible...in my defence I did post it at around 2 am my time, but I'll try and rewrite it:

I noticed that on the website http://www.netaces.org/skins/p47d11/skin11.jpg the skin shown is that of Robert Johnson's Thunderbolt.  Recently, I've been thinking of trying to recreate his final battle (an artist made a large painting of this) in an offline mission.  However, (this is a bit iffy) to get the skin to show up on his plane, I think I'll need the actual picture files instead of the .res file.  So if anyone has this lying around, I'd appreciate if you could PM me and I'll send you my e-mail.

In order to make it the skin used in an offline mission, it must be the default skin. In order to make it his default skin, he must have the original .bmp image.

I'm 99% sure you just rename it to default. P47D11 should be default, usually it's P47D11_1, P47D11_2, etc.

This is not true. To make an in-game skin into the default skin for a plane, you substitute the skin you want to see for the default skins in the STDSHAPES and HIRES folder in the CACHE folder of your main game folder. To do this, you replace the corresponding .TCA files in the STDSHAPES and HIRES folder with the .TCA files from the skins you want to use. This makes them show up as the default.
