Just some stuff I like about the place and a thread with absolutely NO politics attached.
1. It is pretty. I don't have to drive far to be in the middle of nowhere, and I love that. In fact I don't have to go anywhere at all to enjoy some space. Here are a couple of shots from my back porch. This may be nothing to some of you, but coming from the urban sprawl of CA, this looks like heaven:

2. Quirky people, I mean this place is full of individualists. This house is in Idaho City about 40 miles North of here:

3. Some not-so-wild life, these guys were up near Weizer:

And just to get a little O-club action.... Idaho has a completely unrestricted open-carry policy. Packin heat is perfectly OK as long as people can see it. :)

that house is a danger to the occupant and everyone around him.. his individualism is a sin. I don't know how you could condone such a thing. I hope no one tells hillary about him or you.
There was a famous individualist in Idaho. The government noticed him. He lived on ruby ridge. He didn't pay a $5 tax (that was probly trumped up anyway) and he didn't come to court on the day he was not supposed to.
I have friends in Idaho. I sure hope you will leave em alone MT. I hope you won't try to kalifornicate the place.

I'm taking the Nagants out to Sand Hollow this afternoon, I'll try not to disturb the natural wonder of the place with my loud bangs and flying lead.

Welcome to Idaho <TGT>!You just stepped back in time about twenty years!Yes the bearing of firearms on ones person has always amused me,beings I was in law enforcement. We were always getting calls about some guy being in a store with a gun.Crime rate isn't so bad in Idaho, maybe they should issue everyone a pistol! :lol

Wouldn't it be great if the whole county was just as free?
If people who get around in taxies and wear loafers and live in highrise aparments didn't make the laws for people who live in such places?

I gotta ask... how did you know about the <TGT> cpid? That was my AW nom de guerre. Could you be <LD>?

I know it's accross the state from you to the East but you should take a trip to Craters of the Moon Preserve and look over the lava flows and tubes. Great spot to look at some interesting volcanic structures.

I live not far from MT now. This area is growing in population faster than the infrastructure can keep up, mostly with Kalifornians. I still like it here though. Can carry a gun on your hip in public or a ccw is pretty easy to get. State income tax kinda sucks though.

True enough Iron, funny thing is, all of my neighbors are originally from California. Some as long as 30 years ago, but none of them are natives.

Those were the early adopters.
Heck, before the EA's figured it out, Idaho was nigh onter uninhabited! Only had ~ 600k people in 1950.

I'm just an old AW'er that doesn't forget cpids.Midnight was the key in your case.A few years in Idaho does wonders for a person.

After looking at that house we can all draw three obvious conclusions:
1) The owner of that house transplanted from California.
2) He is a liberal.
3) His neighbors think he's nuts.
-
Those horses don't have saddles or bridles. Technically that makes them pretty liberal. :P
-
no.. they would need blinders and seatbelts and airbags and helmets to be liberal in today sense of the word.

I-da-ho was a favorite playground in the 80's for me. Midnight, take your camera and spend a week-end driving through the Sawtooth Mountains. Another favorite is the Schweitzer Mountain area, ski it in the winter, or hike around in the summer. 2nd to Montana, Idapimp is my favorite state.

I thought this was going to be about Jeff Martin's band.

Well, it made it to 1 post without politics anyway... ;)
-
comeon RPM.. surely even you can see the irony (for lack of a better word) of a died in the wool liberal singing the praises of Idaho... much less individualism.
Yet.. he will vote for the people that would destroy that.

how in the heck did a nice post about my beloved Idaho, turn into a political bash.

Have you ever seen anything about Idaho that didn't turn into a political bash?
It is a great place with great people and every liberal on the planet would like to "fix" it.

"We"? You meant to say yourself. Take your politics to another thread.

they have already fixed us enough.some wealthy kalifornicator, bought up all the land around one of my favorite little trout streams. Now no treaspassing signs abound everywhere.Talk about a kick in the gut!

Not to be a "he started it" but my comment was in response to Lazs- maybe you should mind your own business.
