Title: Macho candle scents
Post by: DiabloTX on June 15, 2008, 08:56:58 PM
My wife is a store manager for Yankee Candle Co.  She's always bringing home candles with some nice scents but nothing I'd want to spend any money on.  I keep telling her they need more macho scents, not more cucumber-canteloupe-lavendar style scents.  So she asks me to name a scent that would be macho.  Easy, I tell her, how about pine bench saw, you know the smell that lingers in the air after you've cut a large piece of lumber?  That slightly burned wood smell?  THAT would be an awesome smell.  Gun oil would also be nice one.  Come on guys, give me some more that I can introduce to her!

Freshly tilled dirt! Burning Rubber! or Alcohol (the fuel)!

Being that ive been raised around tractors and dirt track racing all my life, these come to my mind quick!

If they manufactured a Hoppes cologne, all other colognes would go out of business.

Only one I've done to the wife who is huge into candles.

Ask her about this one:

"Dutch Oven Scent".

I would like one that smells like new mown grass.

How about one that smells like a sweaty stripper?

Maybe we could have a new car smell candle?

I have always enjoyed the smell of 100LL exhaust, or even fresh unburned 100LL.

Another favorite smell that would be good in candle form - the smell of gunpowder smoke you get from a shotgun?  I love the smell of shotgun shell smoke in the morning!

Anyone ever make a chocolate smelling candle?

well, very interesting....

We make Green Grass, smells like fresh mowed lawn.

We also now have a Chocolate Cupcake.

We have plenty that have that woodsy smell.

Funny thing, I know what the smell of welding is and instantly smelled it when I read that. lol

Cigarettes, spilled beer and mop water (Bar down the street)

Grilled meat with a hint of mesquite

Cordite

Cordite is a bit extinct, hasn't been made in years.  Don't know what it would smell like.

I try to avoid food scented candles as all they do is leave you hungry all the time.  Bacon would be a nightmare/dream come true scenario.

I agree with a couple of previous posts.  Avgas would be a great one as well as Airshow.  It could be a combination of smoked turkey legs, airshow smoke, babes wearin sunscreen and sweat.  Plus you would have the great smell of the warbirds in there.  Another scent that I always liked, was burnt RC aircraft gas.  That hint of oil and burnt fuel is awesome.  Would tick of the wifey, but who cares.

Campfire.

Lumber mill.  Very distinctive smell if you've ever lived near or worked in one.  Not on hemlock days though. Milled hemlock is a little too strong smelling even for most seasoned mill workers.
