Is there a difference in muzzle velocity between the two, and if so is it significant enough that the aiming would differ greatly? e.g. How applicable is Zazen's Guide to Aiming the Ostie if you are in a wirble?

I'm not sure about the muzzel velocities but aiming/leading with them is about the same.

Wirbelwind: 2cm-Vierling 38, muzzle velocity 900 m/s
Ostwind 3,7cm Flak 43, muzzle velocity 820 m/s
The Ostwind shell is much heavier, so it should retain it's speed for a longer time. But I don't have more accurate ballistical data right now.
But of course you can check bullet drop at various range offline using the .target command.

i like the gun on the osti but the visibility is horrible. i use the wirble cause its hard for someone to sneak up on me. the only thing i dont like about the wirble is that its hard to kill certain planes. i.e. a20 plus some of the pilots usually the same 2 or 3 duys on a daily basis manage to get consistant kills on a wirble after taking multiple hits. normally one or 2 hits from a wirble and you are toast. what is their secret? or is it they figure a way to cheat again?

Valdals first off you might want to be a bit more carefull about tossing that C word out there.
Second yes, the A20 was a strong airframe, with twin engines. Would not surprise me at all if it was capable of soaking up 4 - 6 20mm hits and flying away.

Don't worry, few will actually do. Most will continue to blaze away at 3k hoping for a hit that of course will never happen.. and ooops! No more ammo, hangars are down, no one laid out supplies ;)

vandals,i fly the a20 alot and it can really take a beating.I might get you on the pass but by the time your dead,I have one engine smoking,no elevators,landing gear gone,hopefully I still have my rudder :D I can make maybe two passes before I lose a wing to a good shooter.

I liked the OSTI before they changed it. I'm not so decent in it anymore. I prefer the WW now. I can hammer pretty much any plane with it except the a20 and LANCS. They both seem to be able to absorb so much damage.
IMO you need to lead with the OSTI a bit more than the WW but I don't have any hard data to back me up, just personal experience.

I sure wish the 20s on the Chog could travel 3000 meters +

Not that much I guess. The Wirbelwind shoots a 132g shell at 900 m/s, the Hispano II a 130g shell at 860 m/s

The Wirbel bullets do not travel that far. The longest range you can register any hits using the .target command is ~1700 yards
