I got the idea, after watching a dogfight episode with the mossi, to have a set number of aircraft for each field depending on the size, and have the planes lined up in rows on the pad(s), spread out to some extent, which would cause more people to fly planes such as Mossies or 110's for strafing runs like there were in WW2. This would also make certain size airfields have more importance because larger fields would have a larger set number of planes that could take off from the field.
e.g A small airfield would have 100 planes (50 fighters, 50 bombers). Lets say that JoeBob upped a spit from the field but was shot down, the aircraft remaining would go down to 99, but if the plane was successfuly landed at the same field the number would stay at 100 (49 fighters remaining, 50 bombers remaining). If JoeBob landed at a seperate airfield the plane count there would go up (51 fighters, 50 bombers). Resupplying would become even more important too. 1 resupply run would bring the plane count up 25 per category, fighter/bomber.This would decrease the importance of hangars, but maybe if a plane landed with ANY damage when the hangars are down the plane would not bring the stock back up, unlike if the hangars were up. Here's an idea of plane counts for fields:
Small airfield:100 planes (50 fighters, 50 bombers)
Medium airfield:150 planes (75 fighters, 75 bombers)
Large airfield: 200 planes (100 fighters, 100 bombers)
Note: A bomber with drones counts as 3, and if only 2 return the stock will go down 1.
As for the planes on the field they would be in rows of L x W spread out over the field so that a bomber high above couldn't necissarily take out 40 planes per bomb, increasing the use of strafers even more. And for the visual they would be various planes, at least 4 or 5 different types of planes that would make up the rows.
If you destroyed a plane it would equal about 1/2 of the amount of points you would get for killing a building and you wouldn't be awarded a kill unless someone was piloting the plane (obviously).
Please post any suggestions or problems you have with this, as this is only an idea and i am open for others' opinions as i think this would help increase one aspect of the game; strafing. :salute

Two quick thoughts:
1) Yelling at people for "wasting" planes. When players can't fly because some "n00bs dared to fly from this field" and of course didn't make in back alive, poo will fly.
And I do admit that the thought of not being able to fly what and where I want as a direct result of actions by players on my side doesn't please me at all.
2) All those lined up planes would give a really big hit on framerates. 100 additional planes on the ground would bring most players computers to their knees...

Good ideas would be tough to fix the first problem :lol, but as for the second maybe you could have l20 or so planes at a time show up, then for every one killed in that row it could spawn somewhere else on the field, and keep repeating until plane count is 0. Just an idea for a solution. :salute

Then "t3h sp13s" would go up 100 fighters, and crash them into the ground. :aok

Well if some ppl would stoop that low in a GAME does that tell you somewhat of what kind of ppl they are. They would ruin a GAME for their chess piece. pffffft. Your always gonna have tards that ruin it for the rest of the ppl who don't take the game that seriously.

Yep, I'd have to be the one to say it. So instead of hacking AHII, it's purposely crashing planes in the ground? :huh
Personally, it's a novel idea, but it should be that each person gets 100 of each plane. That'll make people think more. :aok

Good original idea, and I really like angelsandair's add-on idea to it.

of course, I dont usually even fly 100 fighter sorties, non-the-less in the same plane... but it has potential.

I like the idea 1plus but I dont know how you could work out havin' the planes out for strafing run. Thank you for the suggestion though. :salute

I was having a similar idea one day. I sort of like it but it would really have to be well thought out.
I do like the idea of planes sitting around the airfields though. Just that extra bit of immersion.

Yes, lets increase the timidity in the MAs. You think the pick/run/horde is bad now, just tell them limited AC supply.

They can always resupply the base, and I don't think it would make too much of an impact on timidness. Timid ppl will always be timid, and ppl who play the game for fun will always just play the game for fun.

Most don't pay to supply a base. They pay to shoot don enemy AC.

Why can't YOU resupply a base? You're dancing around the notion that you are "uber" in this game.
BTW, you've never shot me down.

What the heck are you talking about dude I didn't say squat about myself, or me killing you or me not resupplying a base for that matter? Dont know where you got that notion. Please tell me where i said this, much appreciated.

"Categorizing Cartoon Airplanes". It is another way of saying: "He's in a fighter and he sucks, we're limited and I declare myself better."
No thank you to this idea.

Please tell me where i'm categorizing planes besides between a fighter and a bomber. And where did I say "He's in a fighter and he sucks, we're limited and I declare myself better."

Please I would like to know. Really tell me where. Please use one of my quotes where i said this too. Greatly appreciated. :salute
