Well, I think it would be interesting to help set this Guinness World Record so I'm posting this link. Firefox 3 comes out tomorrow and it appears they want to try to set a Record by most downloaded software in one day.
If you want to participate, upgrade to Firefox 3, or even if you haven't tried Firefox out and are interested in the new browser, download it!

Will it automatically update if you already have Firefox?
-
ubuntu 7.10 686 compatible?

Just checked
Doesnt appear that the full version is available yet
-
Their website is dead :)

Should work now. Firefox 3 is open for download. I am very amazed at what this browser can do. What amazes me the most is the Extension for PicLens. Here's the link: http://www.piclens.com/ (http://www.piclens.com/)

its good, and has been working fine current versions of firefox for ages.
as usual, i'll pass the "upgrade" until things stop working.

Basically it creates a "wall" of images, such as when you search google images, and click the piclens button, it will make all the images into a "wall" and you can surf through them, zoom in, out etc.

Firefox 3 'Download Day' Cripples Mozilla Site
Elizabeth Montalbano, IDG News Service Tue Jun 17, 3:11 PM ET
Mozilla's big plan on Tuesday to set a world record for downloads with the Firefox 3 browser hit a snag when its Web site would not work properly.
Though the big "Download Day" was set to begin at 1 p.m. ET, Mozilla's Web site was down or working sporadically all morning on the East Coast, and users still could not download Firefox 3 from the site more than an hour later.
A Firefox spokeswoman said via e-mail just after 2 p.m. that the company was aware of the problem and "working to get it back up quickly."
Mozilla also outlined the problems it was having with its Web site in a blog entry.
"The outpouring of interest and enthusiasm around Firefox 3 has been overwhelming (literally!)," according to the post. "Our servers are currently feeling the burn and should be back to normal shortly."
Mozilla will begin registering downloads for the record for 24 hours from the moment the site goes live, according to the post.
Mozilla unveiled a campaign on May 28 to set a Guinness World Record for the most software downloads in 24 hours with its Firefox 3 browser. There is no world record for software downloads; Mozilla is trying to create one.
The company asked users to pledge to download the browser on the day it was released, and was even hosting a Download Day event, the Camp Firefox BBQ, at its offices in Mountain View, California, to promote its cause.
The company also has asked Firefox fans to host parties to encourage friends to download with them, and place "Download Day" buttons on their Web sites as reminders of the big day.

eating internet share and more cake.
heh.

I tried downloading that Piclens and ran into some problems. Firefox wouldn't open and an error message came up saying there was a driver problem. Had to remove Firefox, clean registry and reload from my saved applications files where I keep downloads.
Lucky I had previous version saved because Internet Explorer wouldn't work either. Page display errors kept coming up.

DEFINATELY!

So far it isn't bad. I would like to see the IE tab support take off fairly quickly though.

Just saying....................... .......
You might want to take another look at that before the hammer falls.

Being a fairly recent Firefox convert, I notice that 3 seems to run a little better than the prior version I had. Things like Ebay would max out the CPU usage according to Task Manager, and it would freeze up periodically. That seems to have all but gone away. There's a few things I find a bit annoying, but overall I'd say it's not worse, which is always a pleasant surprise when updating. Missing the Adblock addon already though.

ah. yes. well i hadn't thought about the brooge of "unfiltered" search results people in here. my bad.
use filtered results if you just want to see scarlett and don't want to see a bunch of people going at it with other people.
sheesh.

Mozilla Firefox 3.0 Vulnerability

A number of people who monitor our Zero Day Initiative's Upcoming Advisories page noticed yesterday that we reported a vulnerability to Mozilla (ZDI-CAN-349). Taking into account the coincidental timing of the Firefox 3.0 release, many are asking us if this is the first reported critical vulnerability in the latest version of the popular open source browser.
What we can confirm is that about five hours after the official release of Firefox 3.0 on June 17th, our Zero Day Initiative program received a critical vulnerability affecting Firefox 3.0 as well as prior versions of Firefox 2.0.x. We verified the vulnerability in our lab, acquired it from the researcher, then promptly reported the vulnerability to the Mozilla security team shortly after. Successful exploitation of the vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code. Not unlike most browser based vulnerabilities that we see these days, user interaction is required such as clicking on a link in email or visiting a malicious web page.
While Mozilla is working on a fix, we wont be divulging anything else until a patch is available, adhering to our vulnerability disclosure policy. Once the issue is patched, we'll be publishing an advisory here. Working with Mozilla on past security issues, we've found them to have a good track record and expect a reasonable turnaround on this issue as well.

I like the new version.
Now, Piclens is nice..its like the I-phone interface.
However, for youtube its got an issue that it doesnt show the full name of the file. Anyone watching a tv series or stuff knows that there are many fake videos plus if you search for seriesname episode 23 1/5 youtube will only search for the first 2 keywords and show you all results .. so you end up with episodes 1-100 and you have to scroll to find the one you need.

I got sick of the last Firefox browser I had it ended up being as buggy and prone to locking up as frigging IE.... so I converted to Opera.
How do the two stack up together? Opera's mouse gestures are magnificent and I've much prefered this to my last version of Firefox (as much as I did like Firefox when I first got it).
-
here is what they say they got on DL day.
Thanks to the support of the always amazing Mozilla community, we got more than 8 million Firefox 3 downloads in 24 hours. That’s more Firefox downloads than we’ve ever had in a single day -- an impressive feat indeed!
Please be patient while the good people of Guinness review our World Record attempt. This might take a few days so please check back here. And, a huge thanks for all of your support!

Firefox 3 is pretty cool. I don't know if any of you notice this, or maybe it was available in Firefox 2 and I'm just stupid, but you can click and drag links into tabs.
