Title: Supply Convoys
Post by: John Curnutte on June 17, 2008, 11:30:08 PM
I was in a snapshot a few weeks back and had landed on a field and went to the rearm pad and was loading up as normal , when I finished I was waiting for a squad mate and here comes a supply convoy into the base and it runs into my plane and destroys me , Now how and what purpose does this serve and no one would drive a truck into an airplane on purpose for any reason . And I was elimanated from the Snapshot and told oh well just report it . I'm sure they had no idea that it would happen and here is my complaint , these trucks were not even on the road ! they drive where they please and I was obviously was in the way
But something should be done or am I wrong is it an additional hazard to contend with . Post replys guys please .
                                                             Thanks Nutte

I think you posted this in the wrong forum, you probably want to post this in the help or wishlist forums.

I do appreciate your pointing out a problem in a scenario, thank you.

Considering the large amount of events and the little time to track all issues, could you be more specific as to what terrain and specific airfield you were on?  I don't mind looking into it, just get me to where the problem was.

Roc thanks for your assistance , it was Japan map on field A-8 where we went to refuel / rearm although I do not recall the name of the specific event , I could look it up and add to this post . And Thank You Sir for your time on this .

I think Husky is correct when any supply truck hits you you are dust , it is probably an oversight or something that is in the programing maybe a glich , its a huge expanse of a game I'm sure there are lots of little things in it that have never been found yet . But it was on the H or square type of field I do remeber that and I was on the bottom of it next to the rearm pad .

Found it, duplicated exactly as you described, thank you.

May not be a simple fix, and will most likely be in a map update, I'll brief the event designers on the issue and to be aware of it while creating snapshots, and to come up with a workaround.  It only affects the rearm the roadway does Not point to, for example.

Thanks again, greatly appreciate you bringing it to our attention.   :salute

Thank You very much ROC its is greatly apprieciated , I'm sure the programming is tough to do , no question about it . As a CAD/CAM sheetmetal designer I understand a good deal about how things can be in a high volume of design work . < S > to you and all of the staff .

I know this is an old post but I thought I would add a statement. The other day in the MA I was upping a F4U4 and I spawned on the runway. I hit my throttle to begin my takeoff and SMASH a supply convoy slammed into me and destroyed my plane and I lost the perkies. A friend of mine said the same thing happened to him in a 262.I'm sure this is in the works to be fixed and I agree with the fact that a truck would not drive into a plane under no normal circumstances. Just my two cents.
