Title: Out of Curiosity
Post by: dunnrite on June 18, 2008, 02:11:07 PM
I was just wondering what occupations make up the AH community.  I own a steel fabrication business in Central Texas, building boathouses, ornamental metal fencing, ornamental handrail, etc.

From the way alot of you post, you are obviously a very proud group of people.  Others, well...... :O

I'm among a group of former execs providing business development services to multinational corporations, primarily focused on business to business with the Fortune 500's across a number of disciplines.

Before this I was a marketing/merchandising/sales exec in the music industry (with stints in retail, wholesale and Internet) for about 20 years and also had a couple of short stints running IT departments in there while handling my other duties.

Basically we set it up so the vending machines can call in on a cell phone and report sales, product counts and errors on a nightly basis. i work for a company called gutter toppers, we are a member of the home builders association and we travel around promoting our products at all their home and garden shows and we also set up at all the other festivals and events in OH, MI, IN and top part of KY. my title is "marketing rep" they also keep me busy when i'm not at a show calling our leads for the OH office setting appointments for our reps in OH. what can i say. most my hours come from working out of my house on the computer logged into our work server but it sure beats driving anywhere with gas prices as high as they are.

my other job is taking care of my mom and dad. my mom is 69 and my dad is 74. my dad suffers from CHF and my mom has bad health issues also so while i'm not working for gutter toppers i am out there helping them with household chores that has became difficult for them to do. they are through a state funded program that helps senior citizens in the area with stuff likes this.

and i'm a full time single mom...that should say enough :)

Former Analytical Chemist. Went back to school at 30 and studied Chemistry and became an Analytical Chemist. Worked on the EPA's top 40k hit list of Toxic Compounds specializing in Dioxin and Furan Analysis. Happy to say that I never killed myself due to contamination.

Getting Bored and wondering what am I going to do next ....

Funny that you ask this, because I pretty much have the dream job of 99% of the teen population (but I like it for different reasons).  I work in a beer distrbuting company.  In the morning I usually re-pack breakage and dump out of "coad" beer.  Then in the afternoon when the delivery trucks start coming back, I stack empty kegs with a forklift, etc, etc.  Then I might go make some costco blocks, or just finish repacking breakage from the delivery trucks.

Good thing I have no interest in underage drinking!
