Late last night, the allies managed to retrieve undeveloped film from two Luftwaffe fighters brought down in aerial combat earlier in the evening. These films have now been developed and are made public here (http://www.vimeo.com/1197861).

Nice Vortex, you say you did that with Fraps?
-
Fraps and Sony Vegas Movie Studio software. To render the film took ~40 minutes! Raw footage from Fraps for this clip even in ˝ resolution was +6 GB. After render it was down to 406 MB. So it is a extremely CPU intensive process to render, but great fun to make movies!
-
Friggin way cool bro.
That's how we roll! :rock
-
Are we having fun yet? Looks like someone is :D

Vortex
Can you send me the software name and info on what you used in detail.
I would like to run this on one of my Animal systems that I run here.
See what I can get out of it .

Great job of the footage. Would you consider doing one on AVA to get more people in the arena?
-
I looked up the website forthe Trac IR and have a question...how much play do you have between the link? Example.... To look behind you how far away from the screen do you have to turn your head to get it to look behind you? If I had multiple monitors it would be awsome...buuuuut, I'm wondering if its even worth the effort since I'm running on one. It'd be a little uncomftorble rotating my head one way and trying to still look back at the screen. Just curious, it looks like an awsome hands free deal.
-
It is a awesome hands free deal... You can set up the sensitivity just the way you like it. I have it set so that when I'm facing about 3/4 of the way to the left/right, I'm looking backwards. That's pretty high sensitivity, and takes some getting used to. Once you're used to it however, it's amazing how intuitive it is. The immersion factor is tremendous. This is probably the best piece of hardware I've bought. I'd make this a 3rd on the priority list. 1) a good stick 2) a good display 3) TrackIR :D
-
It seems it would take some getting used to. Is the setup complicated or basically plug and play?
-
Install the drivers, takes a few minutes, plug it in and play. You'll need to tune the settings to your liking and it will take some time getting used to but if you have the patience the reward is worth it.
-
I think I'll start with the 40 dollar version first. If I like it well enough I might graduate to the more expensive one. Looks really cool. Looked at the website again watching the video. I first have to get the funding okayed through the General. (wife) :)
-
Its unfortunate that the film didn't show your demise as I shot your wing off before you porked the radar at the base near the fuel factory... that part must have been burned in the ensuing fireball...
-
It's unfortunate that you're so insecure you need to mention it.

Thats a rule #5 violation and you should be given a week off to think before you post.

Didn't seem to work for any of you. Would you like a golf clap for your victory?
-
Your quite different in game VWE, than you are on the forums....or did I interrupt a historical squabble?
-
yes...
-
:aok My bad...carry on.

Funny thing the film showing them armed for a Jabo strike was on the deck not at 20K or higher as you mentioned in the other thread.
Is there a 25K radar sight somehwere on the map?
-
vortex I have seen that film from an opponent's gun camera, you edited a few parts huh ;)
-
Yeah? Your point being, what?

I love my TIR but it does take a lot of getting used to. I downloaded Homeboys profile tonight and flew around for a bit with it. In all honesty if you're not used to it it can give you a little motion sickness at first. It can give you a bit of an edge in a fight if you have any skills whatsoever (which I don't) but it does add to the immersion.
Go ahead and spring for the top dollar one is my opinion or ask around for some 'retired' people who have one they want to get rid of.
Best of luck
-
Search the boards for TrackIR first, there are a couple sites you can get a coupon to take off a chunk of the price, like 20-30 dollars. One is more than the other if I recall correctly. I just can't recall the site name now... The name dyslexia comes to mind, but am not sure, but find the coupon!
-
Thanks guys...that 20 or even 30 dollars will go along way in getting the expenditure approved through my chief of staff. :lol
-
Chem, the one I use is freetrack( http://www.free-track.net/english/ ) works just like track IR, only you build a hat with three LED's on it and use a webcam (with freetrack software)You got to be handy with a soldering iron.
It will make you motion sick for the first few times..just a little queasy.
33, I noticed the double image a little when you look around. Is that just the fraps doing that?(mine doesn't do that in game)
Good film btw :salute

I don't have the motion sickness probklem at all. I have a big problem keeping the gunsite centered. So bad in fact I tend to turn it off once I engage. Is Homeboys profile on the BBS somewhere?
-
"Vilkas" had to take a break after that attack sortie. He said his blood pressure was Wayyyyy to high. :lol

It's a result of the high video compression. 6 GB reduced to a few hundred MB, go figure.

Here is Mace's profile that I modified.

This is probably the one Halo is talking about.
You might want to take a look at changing the process priority of TIR as well. I found it makes the thing so much smoother. Here is my article on that:

Hope this works out for you. I love TIR and would not even taxi without it! :aok
there ya go :aok

Part 2 of this film is SOON™ up and viewable here (http://www.vimeo.com/1205313). Gotta work again so I'll be back later tonight. Have fun, I hope you'll enjoy it.

Thanks Chilli. We have a blast with Vilkas. Just to hear him laughing and feeling good is beyond any other reward I could get from AH. It's trully an Honor to have him among us, and while at times during combat I can't understand a single word he's saying, :lol the youthful, excited tone gets the message through 5 x 5. :salute

It seems all my films on Vimeo are broken atm. Probably a bug on their server. Please let me know if you can view these films.

Edit: All good now, films playing fine just like they should. :aok

Nic,
Man Part 2 gives me goose bumps when the music breaks and the film fades to a good shot of a large part of the raid. You have talent making these Nic. Call me biased, but that squadron racing to target is too damn pretty. That's why I play AH, right there. Training and tactics. 150 miles one way to target showing a sector and half of full ground level dar, with allied fighters passing overhead the whole time. Historically correct usage of the F-8 as well, not to mention just how damn fun it is. Keep making these bro. They ROCK.
After watching it again, now, I am ready for FSo. Where's my Zero, and Saki...?
-
was that you tonight stampf? :furious ;)
-
I dunno Dicho.
Only if you were the kamakazi TBM pilot who rammed me into the eternal halls of the Empires heroic dead. :furious Never fired a shot at me, just crashed right through...
-
nope I was the clueless F4F Pileofit that forgot you can't climb with a zeke :D
-
:rofl :aok
Man I hate when I am out after only 25 minutes. Just glad I didn't spend hours developing orders for the whole side. That's when it really is teh suk. CiC duty, is fine but when you get taken out by...well...crap,...after putting all the work into the orders, it really makes ya want to throw it in. Oh well it was fun while it lasted. The 11th fielded 16 Zero's. Only 2 left at last check. Glad this one is over. Hopefully back to Europe after the break. <S>.
-
Indeed <S> but I fear I will be in Axis iron and I suck 'like a hoover wired for 220' in those planes :lol Oh wait.. I suck like that anyway :D
-
Practice up in BoA. We already have some 332nd, flying 88's for the cause. ;)
-
you know I will :aok
