Title: Heart Rate
Post by: wrag on June 19, 2008, 04:24:43 PM
Some people try to get their heart rate up saying it's for their health......

IMHO This guy may have gone about it all wrong?

But in all fairness think mine might have reached oh say 200 and probably would have needed to change my undies...............

I used to live about 250 yards from that trail and less than 2 miles from where the attack/mow over happened.  I've coached little kids in skiing right where the attack occurred.  I'd see moose at least once a month and have been very close to them often.  I never saw a bear in Anchorage though.

We had a bear sighting not a half mile from my house yesterday
http://www.packetonline.com/articles/2008/06/18/south_brunswick_post/news/doc4859821053570934723737.txt

Wife called me and said the Superintendant of schools called (recorded phone message sent out to everyone)
Saying there was a bear sighted and that all school bus stops were going to have a police presence.

In a seperate report I heard the bear walked right through the drive through area at the local Mcdonalds which is about a 3 minute drive from me. and dissapeared into the woods. Which means it was headed my way.
I put the cats out for bait.
but no luck LOL

I tried putting the wife out there too,
but she refused to stay outside

There are black bear, moose ,deer, you name it all around me. Worse time was when the bear got on my porch and the door shut behind him. He freaked. Ended up busting out the door. Happened a few months later, he took out the window.

Interior Alaska Grizzly sightings aren't too uncommon.  Biggest threat is a sow with cubs, which is generally this time of the year.  Definitely need to be alert when in the bush.  Of course Moose with calves won't hesitate to stomp the living crap out of ya either if they feel threatened.
