Don't you find it strange there are no aircraft parked at any of the airfields in AH ? I do. In fact I bet MORE aircraft were destroyed on the ground in WWII than were ever shot out of the sky. At least as far as the Japanese, German and Russian air forces are concerned.
Nor do I think it would be a particularly monumental undertaking for HiTech to accomplish. Especially since the aircraft wouldn't be doing ANYTHING except sitting there. Heck they could get really fancy and disperse some of the aircraft on the perimeter of the the field in hardened hangers and camouflaged positions. You know. Just like they do at REAL military airfields.
Now I'm going to anger lots of people by even suggesting these unmanned aircraft be counted as KILLS when they are destroyed. I'm pretty sure they are counted as KILLS in real combat. It should be the same in the game. Don't you think ?
-
When you learn how to take off from a CV we will talk, ok?
-
Hmm, I'm thinking someone should write his own game.
-
Actually it could be a string like the barrack formations. :aok They just be bs targets, kinda like the water tower, but kewl for eye candy :O :D
-

If only those pesky destroyers would stop blocking the flight deck <sigh> :lol

I told you this topic was going to anger a few people and threaten some egoes and apparently it has.

The only bruised ego here is the one incapable of a cv launch.
Care to guess who?

Sure I could go into the TA and practice CV takeoffs and landings. I've got one word for that.. BORING ! I could also fly into the only furball on the MA map after 11:30 at night and feed KILLS to the ego maniacs.. Same thing.. BORING. I could fly around bombing hangers that will respawn in 15 minutes. That's pretty meaningless. And I've already got about 2,000 perk points I'm not using now.
Point is there's NOTHING at these airfields to defend. 98 percent of the maps aren't even being used in the MA after midnight. It's furball or nothing at all. But if ALL fields contained aircraft on the ground that could be destroyed and these aircraft counted as KILLS. Well that's a whole different situation, isn't it ?
It would be in HiTech's best interest to make this change, because Furballing or the alternative Boredom, is RUINING the game for new players. If "go train" in the TA is the only alternative you have to offer to boredom in the MA, something is drastically WRONG with the game.
-
It's been asked about before.
Not a bad idea but altogether an impotent one, since destroying the flightline would have no tangible effect on the game.
If taking out the flightline somehow restricted the capability of the airfield then maybe, but since we can drop the hangars to do that, I cannot see it being anything more than a point farm.
-
Stephie, you are priceless. :lol
-
Not only that but what is the use of spending money for useless decorations? Giving pilots the honor of getting a useless airplane as a kill, when MANNED acks are not counted as kills? You need to think before posting, nice try tho.

Heres my opinion on that statement of yours, pure B.S.. If your going to act like Valerio, please don't, this thread is worse than his first one. Besides, if you find AH so boring, why do you play it? Is it because you don't have any FRIENDS?

blah blah blah.. BORING ! blah blah blah.. BORING. blah blah blah.. BORING.

I could try reading the tripe you've been posting...but.....BORING!

Actually, no they weren't. Aircraft destroyed on the ground were just that: Aircraft destroyed on the ground. A victory was an aircraft destroyed in the air. Period. They were NOT supposed to be included in a pilot's victory total.
Boyington only got away with it because at the time the US was REALLY desperate for some positive war news, so they allowed him to claim a couple Japanese aircraft destroyed in a strafing run while he was with the AVG as victories because it was good press. However most modern totals of his victories omit these outright, or note that he had 3-4 "victories" that were actually destroyed on the ground instead.
They should be treated as field objects only, otherwise skilless dweebs like you will just run up their victory totals by strafing the flight line.
Maybe HTC can create a "grass" field smaller than the current small field, and use these in place of fighter hangars. If all the grounded aircraft are destroyed, fighters (or bombers, or whatever) are disabled.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind that. Or it could be incorporated into an SEA map.

i kinda like the idea of unmandd and unflyable aircraft at airbases, but they shouldent be counted as kills, just as perks like when u kill barracks or ammo buildings

I really like this idea - it would give a little variety to the fields we currently have and would remind me of the gun cam footage you see of PTO strafing operations... No way they should be counted as kills though, in fact I'm not sure manned aircraft on the runway, rearm pad, or otherwise on the ground should be counted as kills...

Change is coming to Aces High whether you fighter jocks want it or not. You're just too dense to realize it. AT&T has already announced a series of internet rate increases over the next couple of years. If you're paying $40 dollars a month now, you'll be paying more like $125 dollars a month for ultra high speed internet service in a few years.
What is Aces High supposed to do ? Go out of business protecting your game ? Of course not. They can't lower the subscription fee, it's only $15 dollars. They can't do anything about AT&T's price gouging.. They have a monopoly. No other server can provide 100 mbps transfer rate to every AH subscriber. The only option left to AH is to CHANGE THE GAME so it appeals to a broader audience (READ THAT TO INCLUDE SKILLESS DWEEBS).
Inevitably the MA will have to be fixed or scrapped altogether. As rates increase, players will not want to expend expensive internet time practicing in the TA to compete with more experienced pilots. It's as sure as DEATH and TAXES. They're going to have to dumb down the game for the masses.
I enjoyed the strategic strategy wargames of the 90's too. It made me just as sick to see them crowded off the shelves by "jerk and twitch" shooter games.. but that's where the money was.. that's what the masses wanted.. and they got it.

Yep, I can't think of a better thing for Dale to do then port AH to consoles.
That would sure improve the game, and the community :rofl
-
"WHAAAAAAAAH!!!! I'M IMPATIENT AND LACKING SKILLZ BUT I WANT THE GAME CHANGED TO MY WAY AND I WANT IT CHANGED NOW OR I'M GOING TO HOLD MY BREATH!!!"
I like how launching or landing on a carrier is classified as "boring" because he's a clueless stick with no skill.

I really can't decide if I like the comedy of the posts, or I'm looking forward to this guy going PNG.
Could you cut down your comedy to once or twice a week so it doesn't become too much?
-
The more objects you have at a field the more its going to impact your FPS. To that add smoke and fire, and AA guns firing and pretty quick we'd all be down to lower FPS near a field.
Sure if AH was a boxed game then you could scatter planes around the field.
But for me, I'd rather have my performance than some parked planes next to the runway.
But then thats just me.
-
I agree with Saxman. Aircraft destroyed on the ground were not counted as kills. (For the most part) They could be added as EYE CANDY and additional ground targets, with long respawn times. But it would be just additional bomber, or attack points not kills.
-
If they made a strat out of it then maybe it would make sense. At least you would get damage or attack points, or whatever you get for killing strats.
There could be a new strat with parked planes, bombers and vehicles, which is somehow tied to the fighter, bomber, and vehicle hangers down time.
Have the downtimes go from 15min to 45min. ( I personally think 2 hours is too long for hangers to stay down)
All the guys that like resupply missions could resupply the new Production factory, to bring down the hanger rebuild time.
To award kills for blowing up a parked plane makes no sense though. You want kills shoot someone down.

Notice he didn't say fly into a furball AND GET A FEW KILLS. That would be impossible now wouldn't it.
-
The reason shooting unmanned planes counted as a kill during WWII was because they had whole groups of people defending the base, we do not. If we had large forces of people defending an airfield and it was hard to even get near an air field maybe you could get a kill for those planes, but i can see the point for some eye candy

WOW ... u are definitely wound too tight.
So .. by your logic ... only the SKILLESS DWEEBS will be able to afford "internet" service ... did you bump your head real hard when you were very young ?

Dumb down the game for the masses. Yeah right. Then all the players that can fly won't be here. Makes great advertising "Come fly WWII fighters. So simple your mother can do it. Planes can't crash. Shoot planes lined up on the ground for points. You too can be a great fighter pilot!"
As far as the money is concerned. Some here played a similar game at $6.00 per hour. On dial-up. With long distance charges. So if it costs more then the less serious will move on. It would make for a better game.
And I STILL spend a fair amount of time in the TA.
-
I seem to remember a bunch of WW-II gun camera footage of aircraft being shot up on the ground, especially in the Pacific Threater of Operations.
Warbirds dispurses aircraft on some of their fields for destruction and it did indeed add to the fun of the game.
AVG
-
Only a human in the cockpit counts as a kill in the real world young man....
But.... If we had "prop" planes, worth an ammo bunker in perks or something, it would help base defenders. Some jerk would want to strafe the parked planes instead of knock out the town.

I actually think this idea has a little merit. I wouldnt count them as "kills" but maybe 8-10 A/C parked on the side of the RW that had to be destroyed in addition to the hangers to make take off impossible at a field?
Or - specific aircraft parked which, when destroyed, made that type unflyable at that particular field?

Hmm, I'm thinking someone should write his own game.
I AM ALL OVER THAT

So basically, you want to vulch planes without any risk? That's all it sounds like to me. I don't see how this is in HTC's best interest to add a feature that caters to the skilless such as yourself and rely on vulching for kills, and parked planes at that. Are you afraid of planes and things that shoot back at you?
It sounds like you want to dumb this game down even further so it matches your skill level.

I'm glad you don't work for my company or any other online gaming company because you really have no clue as to what makes or how to make an online game successful. AH is one of the oldest MMOs on the market and it's safe to assume that HTC does have a grasp as to what his intended subscriber bases wants and a business model to ensure that his game survives, you don't.

I thought we already had this "feature" in the game, no one is stopping you from sitting in your airplane on the field and not moving. In fact if someone shoots you while you're doing that it counts as a kill. Judging by some of the responses to this and other threads I'm guessing more than a few hear would love the chance to do just that.
-
As much as Mr. Waldron is clueless about the game, I have always thought there should be planes parked around the fields, just as there were in RL. It would be nice eye candy. They should not, however, be counted as kills, simply additional objects to be destroyed.
As a means of giving them some value, they could be tied into the ENY system for the airfield they are destroyed at, limiting the lower ENY planes at that field as more and more are destroyed, with some sort of cap so it doesn't go out of control.

That's strange... I started reading this thread and kept reading coming to these EXACT same conclusions only to find the LAST person who posted beat me to the punch! :rofl
I agree with everything that BaldEagl just said.

I have a squady that flies around taking out Radars at every field he can reach....it would give him something else to bomb! :D
