Title: Are these consider head-on shots?
Post by: Yenny on June 22, 2008, 10:14:52 AM
Hey all,

I've been getting complains on head-on w/ other in a turn fight. To my view it doesn't seems like a head-on, it's an angle shots. Oh ignore the vox, I was trying to teach my new squaddie how to tnb. What do you guys think of these shots? should I take it next time because it's valid none HO, or should I just hold fire on it because it's a HO shot.

Thanks,
Yenny

Hello Yenny,

If you are in the MA, you take the shot opportunities you create or the enemy gives you.  It does not really matter on the deflection angle (high, low, HO, whatever).  There is no Ten commandments as far as MA behavior is concerned.  I avoid HO shots simply because my Spit's are allergic to even the smallest caliber shells, not because some feel it is not appropriate in the MA environment.  De-tune 200 if you have folks griping at you for any reason.  It is just a waste of time and a real downer at times arguing with the grade-schoolers and adults that have the same small mentality.  If it is red Sir, make it dead.

First of all Yenny, seriously, detune 200. I do. It has no purpose other than griefing. If they are in red they are the enemy for the time being (I'd be using voodoo on them if such thing existed  :devil ) and I am totally uninterested in what they have to say.

The N1K did his dead level best to HO you, but didn't QUITE have a gun solution as you passed. (If he was trying to not HO in that fight, he would have tried to fly underneath you and you would have had a lousy gun solution at best.) And you don't have time to worry about this crap anyway when fighting 1vWho knows?

BTW, HO is "cowardly"? Maybe dumb-as-dirt M.A.D. retarded sometimes, but never "cowardly". Ha! Cowardly is me who will let an end-swapping HOer go and blow town sometimes to bring the airplane home in the same condition I got it in rather than risk it on a HO.

I'm pretty close to go back to just BnZing stuff. People cry less when I BnZ.

You can be sure that if the other guys had gotten the angle, they would have taken the shot.. They didn't and you did. No HOs in that film. Besides, under certain circumstances, (being pinned down by a faster, higher enemy), I'd HO the bugger if he was dumb enough to go nose on nose. See my Avatar....

Ignore the whiners.

My regards,

Widewing

First off... nice shooting, Yenny.

As for the 'HO'.... pretty close to a HO but I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's more the spraying from max guns range and angle right into you without regard for setting up out of the merge that are, in my opinion, the lame bananas that spoil good fights.

You were working hard for the angle and you got a shot that you only had a split second to make a decision on.

I'd have done the same thing, I hold no punches with N1ks. People use them as battering rams more often than not and you have no way of knowing if the guy in the N1k is one of the slim percentage of people who fly the N1k and will hold off on the trigger when both of you have a gun solution.

Basically, I would say that your shot definitely was a face shot but it was nothing lame.

Don't feel the need to 'stick' to one style. To hell with that. Mix it up.

Looked like to me 2 newbs fighting over the same banana. You really need to de tune 200 before you explode one day. Its only going to get worse and i dont think you will "man up" and take the banter..

Love your excitement and dedication to learn.

I saw no HOs in that film ... I did see nice snapshots.

Also, there were no "overshoots" that I saw ... you used angles to spoil their guns solutions and when they turned back into you, you took advantage of their over speed condition, and your slow speed to get inside for the snapshot.

Don't get caught up in the 200 BS ... it's not worth it ... it serves no purpose.

If you are getting griefed on 200, there is probably a reason for it.  I love ch200.

wHO cares? Im with Widewing on this, if they could have, they more than likely would have taken a shot, so its probably not a "HO" situation. And what if it was? They failed to defend themselves properly in that case. HO's are mostly fairly easy to instigate and avoid. I'll HO when outnumbered or do any number of dirty tricks to try help turn the tables towards something approaching 'fair'.

In the MA ANYTHING goes. If you died, you did something wrong (be it a failed attempt a HOing/ avoiding a HO, or not checking your 6).

In the DA though I try to avoid the HO shots to keep the fights going, but that's just me.

Fly what you want the way you want and enjoy yourself.

BTW, 200 has major entertainment value. Don't hide from it. Embrace it...be come one with the HATE. (It's a hoot :D)

The only time I've ever considered turning 200 off because it is just completely full of endless crap is during American prime time.  :noid

The shot on the Niki was pretty darn close to a HO, honestly. I usually prefer to hold fire in that situations. Throw a little lag in and a close HO becomes a HO on the other pilot's FE. Of course, it all depends on what you want to do, there are times when it's almost unavoidable, especially if you have lot of cons around. I wouldn't have fired in your place, but that's just me.

Btw, impressive aim with that cannon, I wish I could fire it like that!
