correct. They are the EXACT same aircraft. Only exception is the B was manufactured in a different state than the C.

Didn't know that - always thought the 51C was the one with the Malcom Canopy.

There were some other small differences, IIRC. Different canopies, one being more of a bubble. OF course, that could also simply be the date in which the two were made. Either way, a C can, im sure, be moddled on our B.

Post by: Guppy35 on June 28, 2008, 12:57:14 AM: B Models built at Inglewood California, C models in Texas. C production ran a bit longer to honor RAF contracts. Same bird inside and out. malcom hoods started on some of the first B models and were in use on some of the Group leader and FL birds as early as March 44. Blakeslee had one on his bird with the 4th. Obviously England based RAF Mustang IIIs had them, but interestingly enough MTO based RAF Mustang IIIs did not.
