I think the ground in AH is so over modelled as to really hamper my flying enjoyment. I have lost far to many airplanes of all types for this to be anything other then a glitch. I can't even begin to understand how it is that the ground can just suck my plane into it on such a regular basis. No matter how high or low I fly seems there is just one end for me, spiraling to my death into the totally over modelled ground.
I think HTC should fix this obvious game defect, first of all anyone can see that the ground is way to close to the sky as it touchs on all horizons. It also has a tendancy to grab my P38 and suck it down from up high with such force as to actually make my desk shake. I'm sure this is a simple codeing error and should be a simple thing to correct.
The ground in and of itself may not be the only problem, the other thing I have a problem with are the anti aircraft squirrels which live in the top branchs of the trees, they wait for my plane to come by and they throw large sticks at my props, causeing instant damage to them, then the ground glich takes over and I'm back in the tower. I can't say for sure, as I haven't actually seen this, but I think those sheep are watching me and reporting my location to the squirrels.
I couldn't be the only one to have noticed these things, possible solution might be to perk the ground, add additional perk cost for any bit of ground with a tree on it, and perhaps put a couple of wolves out there near the sheep, this will give them something to worry about other then my location. Personally I would love to see sheep explode when i shoot them, or get crushed flat when my tracks or tires run over them, this would be kinda cool in the game as well.
In any case I know skuzzy is on vacation, so I'm sure that if Hitech, pyro and waffle can't handle fixing this by the weekend, Suzzy will take care of it monday.
Thankyou for your attention, please have this taken care of. :salute :uhoh

"Basic Flying Rules:
1. Try to stay in the middle of the air.
2. Do not go near the edges of it.
3. The edges of the air can be recognized by the appearance of ground, buildings, sea, trees and interstellar space. It is much more difficult to fly there."

A most excellent observation, yanksfan. I too noticed this, but chalked it up to my general lack of ability. HTC, please fix these obvious bugs ASAP. :salute yanksfan for pointing this out. Now I know it's not just me, but the game in general.
Now, whoever is covering for Skuzzy...
Please lock this thread before we get all sorts of crazy posts that are hard to read and totally meaningless, not to mention having nothing to do with the original post whatsoever.

From what I've observed lately, the problem is not with the Ground/sheep, et al, but rather the fact that you are now a member of SAPP. You, my boy, are now enjoying what we in the bidness call SOP for SAPP. Oh, wait! Whew, almost forgot..I'm not a member of SAPP...just no way I could compete with all those fancy t/o's and ldng's. :rofl
P.S. beware the Squirrels..they have lotsa nuts.

Next Ace of Aces High - "Earth" ;)

I'm not so angry with ground as much as gravity.

I sure wish I could remember the name of it, but there was a "flight simulator" that I tried in the early 90s. It had great box art and everything as I recall, but it modeled the ground as some sort of rubber. Really. You could smack into it and you just bounced - no annoying damage to anything. Oddly enough, this struck me as a bit arcadish.

Chuck Yeager's Air Combat had an easy mode where you just bounced off the ground like a cue ball off the rail. I used to laugh my arse off when I played that way.

First they need to take care of the trees that are always HO-ing me.

LOL...That SOP was written and perfected Long before SAPP even put on their first diaper. :D

I think HiTech shoudl adress those damn pesky sheep that wont take a hint nad let my Tiger tank roll over them and just die. Pesky critters have cost me a few tanks already. :devil

anybody think that the squirrels are spying and side switching?

Guys!!!! They are there for your protection. :aok
Please so not sodomize the squirrels.

Is that thread a bait ? Let me INvite myself in the troll feedINg
I think HTC modeled the earth magnetism that is impactINg your plane, sucking it down. It either that or you pilot is too fat.

So if your at the bar and someone pushes you into a wall; you get mad at the wall? :huh

perk da trees!

When I fly the Zero, I don't have a problem with the magnetism sucking my plane to the ground since it appears to be made of wood and paper; my problem with it is spontaneous combustion (a.k.a. Roman Candle) when the enemy even looks at my plane funny. :noid
