Can i ask a stupid ?.... ok if u choose a side.. lets say Bish and your green, y r u still green but a rook in another arena? do you have to change sides in every arena so your a bish regardless of your color??
-
The color of the icons is not based on country affiliation. By default everyone on your current country is green (whatever country that is). The other two countries will show up in red by default. Or you can think of it as the game only distinguishes players as either "good guys" or "bad guys", not rooks, knights, and bishops.
-
so if im a bish.. i would want to switch to a bish in every arena then right?
-
neone??
-
If you want to be a Bish in every arena, you'd have to switch to Bish in arenas where you aren't a Bish by default.
I *believe* you will stay the same country in the Main Arenas, though I'm not sure.
-
I believe the countries are tracked differently in the Early, Mid and Late war arenas. So if you wanted to fly bish all the time you would need to set/switch in Green, Purple, and either one of Orange or Blue (those two are linked).
When you're just starting out it can be nice to stick to one country and make some friends. If you don't mind some well intentioned advice, once you get comfortable in the game move around a little, try different counties. One isn't going to be "better" than another but there are a lot of good, nice people in that game that are a lot of fun to fly with and chat to. Limiting your interaction to 33% of the player base means your missing out on some good laughs with the other folks.

i just thought it might be a *sin* to fly as a bish in one and a rook in another.. plus then ur asked what side ur on and if ur a bish and a rook.. well u see me question.. think it would just be easier to be one in every arena... other wise ur saying well, in the early arena im i bish, and in the late im a rook and ...ect...

Thanx all for ur knowledge & taking the time to answer a noobie.. I will not forget, :salute Klover

No problem there Klover, it's what this forum is here for.
As far as changing countries go, I was just offering my opinion/view on the matter. There are people that only play as one country, others do have a less the flattering view of people who change countries frequently. To me the best part of this game is meeting and getting to play cartoon fighter pilot with new and fun people, and I don't see the point of only flying as one country.

Some guys fly one country in one arena and in another arena they are a different country just so they can fly against their "favorite" opponents all the time. Let's say you have great fights with player x in EW (you're a Knight, he's a Bish). You get to MW and check the roster...player x is now Knight. You can either stay Knight and try to hook up with him and fly together; might be great for building online friendship (or intelligence-gathering for future encounters :devil), or you can switch to Rook or Bish and hunt him down and continue the good fights.
Some guys get into an arena and check the numbers of players for each side and then jump to the side with the least players, because they want to "even the sides".
Some guys get into an arena and check the numbers of players for each side and then jump to the side with the most players, because they want to "be part of the horde".
For whatever the reason of doing so, country switching should mean nothing...although some people are so fiercely loyal to a country that they'll spew all sorts of vitriol at a player who "country-jumps", calling him a spy or traitor. Sometimes this is in fun, but sometimes these guys are serious. I've seen (can't help it as they type in "All" channel) quite a few heated "discussions" between various people in various arenas. Sometimes it's "spy/traitor" related, sometimes it's very personal.
Some guys just take this game too seriously.

On the clipboard map, the default setting is also green. The other countries are yellow and orange. You can change that though..
-
is there a way to change the color of the inflight ikons ? make the nme 2 different colors ?

hlbly - Nope..

He's right, but if you look close, there is a tiny little country indicator contained within the icon.

if i could ask another part to theis question?
i know that whatever chess piece i'm flying for is green in any arena. on my clipboard map, rooks are red, and bish are yellow(in MW i fly knight). when i'm in the air, all cons that aren't friendlythough are red. is there a way to change the colors so i can ident them from farther out?
thanks!!

If you mean you would like to see different inflight air icon colors for the two different enemy countries: Unfortunately that's not possible.
There is only a single "enemy" color, which can of course be changed, as well as all clipboard colors:
Options->Preferences->GUI

yes, but that doesn't show up till within a couple hundred yards......
-
I think it shows up as soon as you get within icon range. But I don't look at that so much as if it's red it's dead!
-
It does show up at all icon ranges.
