I've never been able to get a conclusive answer for this question. In my own experience debris does absolutely nothing, and I generally fly an A6M5b, one of the most fragile planes in the game. Yet I still hear people say that debris hitting your plane will cause damage. So I was filming tonight and when reviewing it I found an interesting moment that seems to support my theory rather well(see screenshot below). I'm not an expert on the B-25, but I would imagine that its engine/wing would easily demolish an A6M5b going 300+ MPH. So I'm curious on other peoples opinion on this matter and if they have anything to support the opposite.

Only the bit with the player attached to it is material.
-
And the other debris only triggers a sound file representing you hitting it.

I would like to say "Let's make the debris do damage" but that would make my life very difficult as I like to get in very close and pick parts off. That is much more fun that chipping away at 400-600 yards.
Having said that, Erich Hartmann used to fly through the debris of his victories all the time and got away clean most of the time. He did have to crash land a few times due to damage from debris but he did get away from it most of the time.

That is a very good question :aok I no this for sure debris do no damage ,but if u take a wing off and hit the body of the aircraft before he bails out u will take damage. I always laugh when people say oh man the debris took me out :rofl It is usually one of my squad mate's that make that statement :rofl

As stated the debris causes no damage but whats left over of the plane you shot down with pilot still in it does. If i ever say "i've crashed into the debris and going down" thats what I meant. I was not able to pop the plane, was to close and crashed into the leftover debris.
Edit: Sometimes you can take the back 1/2 of a plane off and his nose will pull straight up for a moment before doing a mini loop...that always seems to be when I crash into them if to close.

In IL2:1946 debris hitting you and doing damage is fine, but I think for AH2 lets keep it at a no, latency and lag issues may be a tough cookie to deal with.
*cries about the time a Ju-87's wing took his engine off in his Spit in IL2*

Lusche would know :D

Yes, it does damage. Avoid they flying parts.

Yes, it does damage. Avoid they flying parts.
Only the part that's still attached to the pilot.

Lusche would know :D
I do, but the correct answer has been given several times already :D

Only the part that's still attached to the pilot.
I'll buy that :aok

I could be wrong and i don't have proof or anything, but i've had debri take out a wing or two in my day but maybe i hit the plane or whatever. At the time, it look to me like i hit debri, but no proof so i could be wrong.
I guess my point is that debri can "possibly" damage planes!!!
