Title: spies :)
Post by: Hazed on June 06, 2000, 08:50:00 AM
just had an idea to spice up c47 flying..how about spies flown in by c47s to the enemy HQ
which then allows the pilot of the c47 to read enemy messages for say 15 minutes .perhaps the c47 would have to hide within a certain distance from hq in order to continue to relay messages.....
the c47 is a great idea i think and could b used for much more...for instance how about if pilots downed in enemy territory who would usually be captured could escape if a c47 could pick up pilots ,maybe with .join command.
of course these are just thoughts and i wouldnt pretend to know the gamplay issues/programming problems involved in implementing these sorts of things i just thought id throw them in to see what you all thought  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

You already have spies now. On every side are those who pay for 2 or 3 accounts for this pleasure. The realy sad ones kill account number 2or 3 for points/k/d/k/mission or shooting accuracy. I do like your concept. Only one problem you are going to have more fights on ch 1 when people see whats being said about them on the other side.

Oh jeese. Here we go again with this baloney about folks who pay $60 to $90 US a month for the extra two or three acounts to use for spying or killing themselves for points.

Name them EYE. Heck , just name ONE so we can  put this to sleep huh?

just your thoughts on these ideas please..

p.s. how about gliders towed by b26s? troops in the gliders bombs for ack in b26. wouldnt that make a great base grabbin team  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Spies would be a fun idea.  The only problem is that radio text wouldn't be a good idea since sometimes people say things about other people that would start big arguments if the other guy saw it. (Wow, that's a sentence.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) )  Perhaps we could just get a boost to the radar range for enemy aircraft dots for 30 minutes or so.

This would be a fun new strat addition IMO.

A little off-topic maybe but it just occured to me that what EYE said about 2 or 3 account players killing themselves would be impossible.  How could they do it?

The ONLY way it could be done is if a person had 2 accounts & 2 computers each with their own internet connection.  You would then have to spawn one of your aircraft on one computer, then somehow manage to kill your flying drone on the other computer before someone else did.  I highly doubt ANYONE would waste their time doing this as it would be a huge waste of time and money.

Now I doubt EYE would mention this if he didn't have some evidence that it has happened.  Eye, can you please provide us with some evidence or at least an explaination of how someone could do this???

You said how its done yourself. I also think the cheap way might be to use  the 2 free weeks on a seperate card number. You dont need it every run to do the damage 2 weeks a month would be enough. There are guys so does not mean another does not find it hard core that do this dont fool yourself. Just because you and i find this exspensive cheap. 2 accounts 2 connects and 2 computers for alot would be pretty easy to set up. As far as proof you find it im too buzy improveing my game. Hint look at the guys that get sky high missions 10+ kills and the one with sky high kills /per hour.

This practice was wide spread in aw3. I fought a guy named badz who flew like this every day. He would tell you he flew 3 accounts often he would use 1 to trap you for a kill with another. 10 bucks a month is much cheaper to do that with i agree. He was a trainer for years got 1 of his free payed for the others. Trust me this happens here too. Its a shame.

I did a little research on the scores page ... and I believe you. I was able to find a couple guys last tour that had only flown around 20 sorties, but somehow managed 20+ kills per death and 2.5+ kills per sortie.  Upon further research into one in particular I found that all of his kills were in the F4u-1c.  When I got looking at what planes he had killed it was almost too funny.  He had never shot down, nor had been shot down by a bishop p51.  A knight p51 and a knight spit were the only planes to ever shoot him down in a fighter.  He flew the 1c, but had never killed a tank.  He had also never been killed or had killed any of the top players that I could think of.  This guy flew rook, so I checked to see if he had been killed by Hangtime, Torque, Wardog, Hristo, eskimo, ypsilon, myself, etc...  He hadn't, so I was really curious then.  He had only been killed once in the 1c and once in a bomber.  To top it all off, I had never heard of the guy, and I know almost all of the veteran players who play AH. My conclusion is that you are right and there are a few players who think it's fun to kill themselves over and over to see themselves on the score page. I won't name the guy that I looked up since he didn't do anything illegal, but it isn't too hard to figure out who I'm talking about.  (About 3 searches on the score pages for tour 4 will make it obvious who I'm talking about.)  I guess if this makes the game fun for him and doesn't hurt the rest of us, go right ahead then.

It looks like what he did is to set up a vulch at a base and keep spawning one type of plane over and over.  He also managed to down a couple other guys who just happened to up there.  (That's probably how he got killed himself.)

I would never have believed it had I not proved it to myself...    (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)

There are some really good pilots who live in different time zones and can't be online every time you are there.
As a matter of fact, I'm flying in the same time zone as most of the guys you mentioned, but, since late beta, I can only recall 2 fights against Hangtime, once I seen Hristo and maybe I have seen Wardog up. Others, including you, I might have heard of, but have never seen either of you up.
Main arena, no matter how small it looks, is huge. That guy might be flying to fields that are not most active and that's how he picks up his kills.
The only time you'll know for sure that someone is indeed using multiple accounts, is when they will tell it to you themselves. Until then, it's nothing more then your assumption.

At "$10/mo All you can dweeb" in AW3 it was done. And who cares, really?
I'm asking you to back up accusations that it is done here EYE. Simple request.

Guys I agree that this sounds silly, but trust me on this, there is at least one person that I checked the score pages on that had some really odd stats.

While I agree that different time zones may account for his stats, there is at least a possiblity that EYE is right.  I don't want to post the name of the person that I looked up since he isn't doing anything wrong.  (Who knows, I may be wrong myself.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif) )

All I know is that I wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it myself...  Lets put it this way, his stats were SO far out that I almost fell off my chair laughing.

I don't see it Bloom.  I looked, I know who you're talking about, but running down the top pilots I did find several that had encountered him.  You're looking at a TOTAL of 35 kills, counting his deaths (if they were even at the hands of other players) that's 37 total conflicts.

You're going to have a hard time finding anyone he fought with picking at random, the fact I found two was enough for me to quit looking.

20+k/d ratio?  Not unheard of.  Some people get some alt before they'll engage, some get a lot of alt before they engage, and some may take off from the rear-most base and only engage when they have definate advantage.  I have no patience for this, but I don't see it any different than a 109 circling forever waiting to engage, just taken a step farther.

Finally, if this person was indeed going to these great lengths to cheat, he certainly didn't take advantage of it very much.  I can't prove he did not, but it could certainly (and imo more likely) be simply a case of someone who plays off hours, and engages extremely carefully.

You are probably right Fatty.  It just seemed odd to me, but the chances are he is just very careful about who he engages.

I was just curious as to why EYE would bring up this without having some kind of evidence.  When he told me what to look for and I found this particular guy, it seemed to support him.  It seems really silly to me to shoot yourself over and over just to see yourself high on the stats page.  Waste of time really IMO, but it's not against the rules.  I really don't know why I bothered posting about this, maybe I just found his stats to be a little strange.  I probably shouldn't have said anything so I'll just let it go.

Anyway, back on topic finally.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/rolleyes.gif)  I think spies would be a good idea.  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/biggrin.gif)

Westy why you think 30$ a month is not as cheap as 10$ to some. If you have money 30$ is small change. Enjoy posting on this topic every time it comes up i will. You will get no proof from me. I have been working on my game not worrying about who is doing silly things. I simply want a box that gets checked on the killboard if you have 2 accounts and kill 1. You see im against cheating arent you? Why do you find it so hard to believe? Dont you want to make it harder to do ? Btw i saw you talking to a aw friend of mine the other day. You said you were not from aw? Sure sounded as if you knew him from there? If your stalking me because of aw balony why not switch sides and hunt me? Thats what i would do.  Hassleing me on posts is silly why not bring your best game and handle it in the arena? I cant believe you dont think cheating goes on  or are for it. Btw westy i dont have anything against you i just think you have other motives in your posts. If you want a fight with me im on every day. Its better than taking a stand for cheating isnt it?
You will find im a easy kill (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif) Our skill level are fairly matched. Ichecked yourkillboard. Hopetosee you soon                                                                                                                                         EYE

Stalking you? You've got "issues."  You keep dodging the question EYE.  Who are all these people you see doing this? Don't say AW. Don't say we'll meet in the arena. I could care less if you look at my score, it means squat as I don't fly for points.  Who are al these people you've seen since you've been here that have multiple accounts and frag themselves for points EYE?  Answer that and we'll move on. You didn't, couldn't or wouldn't before and you're not now.   Till you do I'll continue to take offense that when you imply this jack bellybutton behavior from AW/FA  is here and I'l still think of you as a horses a%% for spouting it without backing it up.
And EYE, I've never said I did not play AW. Pay attention boy if you're going to quote or put words in peoples mouths. I said I never did Warbirds [WB's]

You have had a poor transition to this game. 46 death in 56 missions with 29 kills wins you no respect in my book. The westy i flew with lost 10 to 1 to me in aw3. Seems you rember your whiping. You have lied to me and harrased me in my posts which btw have been right on the money and flown poorly to boot. Its my experence there are two ways to improve in this type of game. 1 go to training regularly or find someone who is better adopt there tactics fly with them and try to improve. Your a rook and simply i wont fly with a lier. So my sugestion is to hunt me with all your heart and soul. Ill bring your skill up no doubt. I trained many in aw3 even though i was never a trainer. Made them tougher more skilled tactical fighters. 1 last thing i havent seen many cheating i have seen 1. He was awsome in beta and the first two camps. He regularly got 10 + kills  a mission. Since hes stoped his k/d k/ mission and other stats have colapsed. I was dumbfounded to see this bs here just like in aw but worse. Simply i encountered guys who would hunt you with 2 but never seen any who would  try to pass 10 to 15 kills off. I was amazed to see that here. Btw this guy is still very good just not the superstar he was the first 3 months i saw him. Im hinting at who you go find his stats there there for all to see. Handle it in the arana Westy your stats leave too much room for me to mock.    SINCERLY                                                                                          eye

I have access to 5 computers that are all connected to the internet through an ADSL line.  These systems range from an AMD K6-2 350mhz with a Voodoo3 up to an Athlon 700mhz with a GeForce256 DDR.  This is my home setup, although only two of the computers are mine (K6-III 450 and one of the Athlon 700s).  I can't imagine that I'm anywhere near unique in having this kind of setup.  I am single, and my roommate and I make about $75,000 a year, which in the Bay Area is not very much.  If I wanted to, I could easily start a free two week acount to pad my scores.

One look at my stats will tell you that I don't play much and that I DEFINATELY don't pad my scores.  As a matter of fact, I rather suck.
