Title: TT33 Tokarev (maybe C&R)
Post by: Russian on July 01, 2008, 07:07:58 AM
Would anyone know reputable online store that sells those toys? I was about to purchase one in AimSurplus, but they run out in less than 5 days...

Thanks.

Here is a link to a sale on gun broker.

Gun Broker is just like ebay, just be careful who you buy from.

i doubt you will find an original Russian TT33 but you will find a ton of Czech and Romanian.

I was looking for something more of AimSurplus like. I have zero trust in ebay, especially something that is weapons related.

SOG has Romanian ones but they're not listed as C&R.  Too bad you missed out on that batch of Polish ones.

Yep, I'm kicking my self for not getting Polish ones.... usually they are higher quality than Romanian stuff.

C&R only works if you have a C&R license.

Yes, I know. Reason I asked for C&R is because if it doesn't meet criteria, it means pistol has been modified. I'd rather own something original...

I can't imagine these pistols being modified much.. they were cheap as dirt.. like my makarovs.. they made zillions of em and they were not a particularly desirable gun in any case..  they are not something that people customize.

The maks I bought all had stupid thumb rest grips added to make em legal but the originals were in the box.

As I understand originals didn't have safety and so to meet "Commi-land" regulations, it was added. Since ammo is cheap, reliability is excellent, to me, TT would make a nice collective shooter.

Any ones coming over now will all have the safety mod to meet import restrictions.  That last batch of Polish Toks at AIM also had the safety but were listed as C&R because the ATF issued a clarification that they were still C&R eligible with the safety mod.  Before that AIM would not sell them as C&R either.  SOG seems to be the only place that still doesn't sell them as C&R.

Pyro, you seems to be knowledgeable about TTs; What are the differences between Polish and Romanian one?

I don't have any in-depth knowledge about them, just a recent interest.  From what I've read there's not much difference, they're both considered good deals.  Polish build quality is reputed to be a little bit better.  The import safety lever can be different between the two with it a little bit larger and more prominent on the Romanian.  That makes it either more useful or more intrusive depending on your point of view.  A lot of people just remove them anyway to return them close to their original form.
