Simply stated. Which is the best of the series to gain experience with the airframe? Flown the E-4 many times in the AvA BoB setups, was fun to fly
-
Where are you learning? If you're learning in the MAs fly a G-2 or a G-14 with 20mm guns in the nose, and no wing gondolas. Move up to using gondolas in certain situations later, but leave them off while learning.
The F-4 is also a very nice ride, but slower, climbs less, and has a weaker engine overall, so I suggested the more competitive rides instead.

Been spending a ton of time at the crater in the DA. Usually fly F4F-4's, FM-2's, Hurri-1's, or Zekes. I'm just not too familiar with the 109 series

It really depends on your fighting style as they are SO different. If stall/turn fighting is your thing then the E4/F4 are your best bets. If it's E fighting with some TnB thrown in try the G2/G6. If you like speed and raw power then try the G12/K4.
If you're not sure you might want to start with the G2. It's a good middle-ground fighter among these.
Oops, just saw your post. Try the F4.

Try the F4.
Absolutely. Once you're comfortable in the F-4, try the G-2. After that, skip the G-6 and try the G-14.

Freidrich, no doubt.

I fly the k-4 due to
1. most powerfull of the 109s
2. the tater is a pretty much guarenteed 1 shot kill
3. can literally go straight up until >50mph
4. amazing vert performance matched only by the ki-84 and the spit 16 and 14
5. useing throttle management and flaps can turn with even spits for a short amount of time while slow
also some minuses that come with the plane
1. tater has horrible ballistics
2. has the sole advantage of speed versus the ever so popular spit 16 forcing you to be the better pilot
3. roll rate is only average and seems lacking since I used to fly 190s but isnt big hindrance
also the g-2 is the most well balanced fighter with
above average manuevarability
average speed
amazing climb
average roll
cool cow skin :aok
a bit lacking gun package
hope this helps

It would be the 109f4 without question. This bird turns with anything, has a climb rate of 3700 to 4000 all the way to 15k....that can be beat by only a few other planes. It is fast. 325 level on the deck. Can dive to 400 and still keep E pretty good. It has most uber stall maneuverability. It is the easiest of all 109's to control at 50 mph in a stall turn or scissors.
It has the same 20mm as all the other 109's. But it only has 2 BB's for mg's (30 cal equilivent). You get 200 rounds of 20mm out the nose. People say the guns are weak.....pfffft. Same cannon as all the others. Just lack the 50 cal mg's.
It can gain E back well and at slow speeds and will out climb nearly all planes at stall speeds. Combined with the maneuverability of stall and climb it can't be beat.
The only disadvantage is the top speed. Going against a faster plane with more E it can be tricky to draw them in close enough to start scissors.
But for pure learing a 109 the 109f4 is the one to start with. The G2 is a bit faster with a better climb up to 5k. But for learning I think you need to stay with the f4 model. It is just a better all around plane. Ignore the speed part for now. IF you want to learn the 109 fly the f4 first. Experiment with the stall and climb. Go fast. To start climb out to 10k and then engage lower. Get familiar with it. Then fly in lower at about 5k and practice turning and stall fighting.
I fly only the 109k4 and the 109f4 with few exceptions. I love the f4 but for more advanced acm it doesnt have the speed to catch hogs, la's, p51's etc. The k4 can force an enemy to fight where the f4 is slower and you have to sometimes wait out the BZ part to get close.
The G2 is a good second choice but I recommend the f4.

I would say, F4 - K4 - G14 - G6, in that order, but there's no question you should start with the F4.

109g-2

I fly the E it is an excellent plane and I love it!
-
Just pick a 109 and stick to it, its all about personal preference - I prefer 109g2/g6 - g2 is faster, g6 heavier armed.
-
Start with the E model, fly it for a week. Then fly the F model for a week and so on and son.

Tis so

Tis so
Well what im saying is its all about personal preference, if you want the beast in the group (engine power and guns) take K4 model,
or if you want just a well balanced model: F4, etc
-
I agree Adonai.
-
I started with the g2 it was a great bird for furballing I now fly the g14 only, with the occasional k4 fligt.
-
This has been said to me before about the 109's and i thought it was funny
E - mom
F - son
G2 - Cousin
G6 - Fat cousin
G14 - Uncle
k4 - Big Daddy

Yep. I've rarely used the 14, I might have to roll a few of those and try it out. I just love the Friedrich.
