Title: Tupolev Tu-4

I think the Tupolev Tu-4 would be great addition to our current line of aircraft.

Much like the B-29, but far more superior. The B-29 design was in fact, copied from the Russian Strategic Bomber Program.

Superior? No.

Much like the B-29? No. 100% identical soviet-made copy, down to the stamps on the rubber tires.


It's a cold war copy bomber. Well after WW2 ended. Sorry.

...More Info:  The Soviets used a different engine, the Shvetsov ASh-73, which had some parts in common with the Superfortress' Wright R-3350 but was not identical. The remote-controlled gun turrets were also redesigned to accommodate Soviet 23mm cannons.

Why do people always request the TU-4.  Why don't people ask for the B-29 for a change. :mad: :mad: :mad:

I'm not interested in the troll. I'm interested in damage control from all the newbies out there thinking this is serious.

Must have been equiped at least squadron stength.

Must have seen combat in WWII.


The aircraft in question misses both of those targets like a Spitfire Mk I firing at a Bf109E at 2k out.

Well since we are talking Tupelov, let's consider the TU-2!  It would be great add to the inventory.

They even copied patches made to the fuselage skin to cover battle damage on the captured B-29. Took a perfect skin panel, cut a hole in it, then riveted on an .040 patch to cover it! :rofl

I'm bringing this thread to life again  :rock the TU4 would be a nice competition to the 29s. Faster engine and cannon make it good to chose one or other.

The Tu-4 first flew on 19 May 1947, piloted by test pilot Nikolai Rybko. Serial production started immediately, and the type entered large-scale service in 1949.
