Title: Stripers Beware!
Post by: rpm on July 02, 2008, 01:01:41 AM
That's stripe-ers. Heading to Lake Texoma for a few days to do some fishing, contemplating and spend time with family.
88, hold down the fort while I'm gone. <S>

If you ever are in Texas, go to Lake Buchanen. (Spelling? It's sounded out as Buckanen).

It has really really good striper fishing. A couple years ago, I caught a striper that was 22'' long.  :O

Nice!  I took home a couple decent sized bass a day or two ago, going fishing again today, in about an hour and a half.

And my other hobby, fishing, finally gets some cash thrown to it like AH has.  Bought a little boat, might be able to get some more fish.

Rusty, I knew exactly where that was the second the pic popped up. Used to go there with my Dad when I was younger. The stripers migrate up and down the East coast, and get funneled through the Cape Cod Canal. If you catch that window just right (or are tapped into the fishing community like my Dad was) you can catch 40-50 in a day, just by casting from the rocks.

Man that brings back good memories. :)

We have 50-55 lb stripers here.

Oddball situation...

Stripers breed in freshwater, but live in saltwater most of their lives.   Here in the spring during spawn, stripers come up out of the Gulf and go up the Ouichita River.  The last dam is the Jones Mill dam.  Just below that, record stripers are caught.

Big suckers.
