Title: Xonar installed but voice sounds rough and cuts out in game
Post by: Getback on July 02, 2008, 09:52:40 PM
My voice in the game is rough and cuts out or breaks up. The sentence will usually finish but it will be broken or have some lag.

At desk top it sounds okay.

Sure could use some suggestion for fixes.

There's a windows program for High Def called KB888111. Is that needed? Also, I plugged my high def front panel into the sound card. Is that correct? I deleted the drivers for the old soundcard and disabled onboard sound in the bios.

This could be a bug in the Xonar drivers.  The game uses its own codec for VOX amd it operates ar a lower sample rate to reduce nework overhead.  The Xonar drivers may not be dealing with it very well.

This is all just speculation as we do not have one of these boards to test with.  Changing sound card drivers can also lead to some problematic issues which could be related.

I'm watching this Xonar card closely, please keep us up to date on how it works out.

Looking at one for my next system...

This is my thought process right now. I had a similar problem with SB. So I think that maybe there are remnants left of the onboard sound drivers. Anyone recommend a good driver cleaner?

Have it working fairly good. I used a driver cleaner. Really appreciate the site.
