Title: gunnery hit % request
Post by: Citabria on June 09, 2000, 10:35:00 AM
I've been enjoying keeping track of my gunnery hit % and trying to improve my aiming ability but there is a problem for me and maybe some others.

I love flying as a fighter bomber and straffing ground targets but I am unable to do this while trying to perfect and monitor my gunnery since ammunition expended on ground targets is counted as a miss.

but I don't care to see hits on ground targets averaged in to the hit% either since ground targets are so easy to hit and irrelevant to air to air gunnery.

is there any possible solution to this besides choosing one or the other?

can I have my cake and eat it too?

I too would like to see the scoring split up for this purpose.  I am pretty sure that when I fire my M16 guns it is being added to the same column as the bomber guns.  I am sure that I rarely hit anything when driving an M16 and having these numbers separate would help too.

Yep if I take off in a fighter with bombs, I would like for my score to go in a seperate category.  Right now it's useless to look at your fighter stats if you fly a large percentage of fighter-bomber missions.

Cit,

I understand what ya want, but how in the world would the server be able to tell wether you're shooting at the ground or shooting at an airplane near the ground and missed?

The last time you posted this cit I really didnt know what the beef was.
Then someone asked me to drop a hanger in my 1c...wow takes lots of rounds and they are all misses...
I see what you mean.

It's not that big of a deal actually.

I'm just trying to improve my gunnery this tour so I'm going to just jabo w/o guns so I can monitor it accurately to see if I'm improving.

I still don't see any realistic way to seperate it.  I'll often take off with ordinance but then end up fighting other planes, or of late I often go for ground targets with no ordinance attached (especially with LA5).
