Anyone here have any old games that you want to discuss about? I've got a few that are just simply great.
Jane's WWII Fighters - www.ww2fighters.org
Hidden and Dangerous - http://hd.3dactionplanet.gamespy.com/
Apache Havoc - unknown (might as well search google)
Talonsoft's 12 O'clock High: Bombing the Reich - unknown
All of these are pretty great games IMO.
How bout you guys, any games you want to discuss?
-
I miss the original Legend of Zelda.
-
If you're at all interested in shooting, Remington's Top Shot is excellent. Has worked flawlessly from Windows 98 on through Vista. Sporting Clays is fun too although more two dimensional.
-
Hidden and dangerous is a great game
Gotta reload tht one. Havent played it in a while
-
Space Invaders.
Come on, how many games are there were you are an Anti-Air vehicle shooting down invading alien space-crafts? :D

-
I still play Age of Empires and Microsoft Combat Sim 98, and Bass Pro 2003. The graphics certainly aren't the best, but they're fun.

Nintendo 8bit had an f117 game I had only played once or twice at a friends house as a kid, I remember you had to laser designate targets, and fly around radars, Awsome graphics(lol) and it was just the best thing ever to me then.
Wonder who made that game?

X-Com and X-Com 2: TFTD (if these games had a true 3D successor I would be on it like a fat kid on cake)
Homeworld 2
Aces over the Pacific

P.T.O. II by Koei
Day of Defeat (not source)
I'd have a lot more, but the game won't run under XP. They'd probably explode in Vista :lol
-
Old Games that still play well today:
Empire
Harpoon Classic (had the original on the 286 which barely ran on such a "weak" machine)
Duke Nukem and even DOOM1&2 are still good for a round or two if you ignore the graphics. Both still have their special atmosphere
Somewhat old games
Fallout 1&2
Deus Ex
Battlezone (the best raw FPS/RTS combo ever made, brilliant but too involved for the console crowd)
Unreal Tournament (easy to network on a home lan for H2H with a range of machine specs)
Half Life
Charon
-
Rise of the Triad and BioMenace. :rock
-
Eventually I'm going to get a Commodore 64 emulator & get some of those old games.
Impossible Mission (AAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!)
MIST (one of those word games)
Plus... I'd like to get one of those little flatbed coin operated games w/the built in seat (because I'm too lazy to stand for a video game anymore) which has Qix programmed into it.
-
Super Mario on the gameboy original was awesome fun. the game was to see how many times you could complete it in a row, each time getting harder. I nearly made it through 3 times once, before the batteries died.
-

Fallout 2, what a great rpg. have you played anything remotely as fun as far as rpgs go in a while? I loved the pipboy graphics that went along with the skills and perks. Bloody mess, that was always a h00t. Oh and funnily enough my most successful character was a mentats addicted girl who slept her way through a lot of situations. oh man, good times.
-
Any one remember Spectre? it was a tank battle game. wire frame objects and blocks for obsticles.
edit: here it is!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectre_(computer_game)
-
Used to spend hours playing Star Raiders on my Atari 400.

By all means play Fallout 1 if you haven't already. More of the same goodness. Most of my more recent RPGs tend to be FPS style, like Deus Ex. Well worth playing today for the RPG elements asnd story and expansive universe even with the dated graphics (as long as it is the first and not the console-based sequel that sucked) They are making some hybrid RPG with a FPS type perspective but traditional top-down elements under the Fallout brand but it doesn't look all that promising.
The best RPG type experience I've had recently but without the leveling/abilities aspects was the FPS Stalker. You and the wasteland with a fairly open ended universe. Trade and barter, etc. The upcoming Stalker: Clear Sky prequel might have my buying a new PC just to play given the DX 10 graphics, even if I have to settle for a dead-end platform LGA775 to get the horsepower and Vista given the timing of things now. Don't know if I can wait a year for the next generation Intel socket/chip to mature and my Opteron 185 and 2GB ddr has reached its limits. Clear Sky is supposed to be an even larger universe and even less linear.

hehe.. I was a special ed teacher and the Atari 400 was our School Computer. I was the only one who knew how to "program" the darn thing, so I took it home for "work" a lot.

Pin the tail on the liberal... Trickier than it sounds as it's almost impossible to tell which end is the rear.
-
I have an old P-3 game I play almost daily... cya in the air.
