Title: Newest plywood road-dog.
Post by: Papabear on July 05, 2008, 03:23:12 PM
Howdy all. Since 1992 I’ve been putting plywood dogs in the back of my truck. No particular reason why… People on the highway just tend to smile & wave when they see them.

Each dog last about 2 years before they need to be repainted or replaced. Well, the old dog was worn out, and my daughter asked if she could paint the new one.

She finished it this morning, and here it is.

It’s a bit ‘cuter’ that the ones I’ve previously painted. But I’m thrilled a teenage girl still likes to do things for her ‘Papabear’.

Its nice, but you need a sheep with flight goggles in the same pose on the other side.

:D

First thought I had when I saw this was that at some point I'd have to do the Snoopy Red Baron, with scarf and goggles of course.  :)

That's awesome!  Does it block your rear view much?

No, it really doesn’t block the rear view at all. No more than having a passenger sitting directly behind you in the backseat of a car.

I put these views together: You don’t see much of the dog from directly ahead of the truck… So not much is sticking out into the slipstream at highway speeds. Then from the inside, you can see how much of the dog you see in the rearview mirrors. My knuckles are blocking most of what you see in the interior mirror. You can see the most by looking in the wide-angle part of the outside mirror.

Thanks for the compliments, they made my daughters day.

And during the first trip on the highway today, I got a lot of smiles, and noticed a cell phone picture being taken as a car went buy.

You need to trademark that.  If you only had 10% of the sales of those stupid ball sacks people hang from trucks you would still be a millionaire.
