I'd like to have it in the plane set. :rock
-
Dont mean to rain on the parade, as I see no reason to exclude it, but it was built in fewer numbers than the B variant of the 163.
310 total P-51A's v. approximately (stats differ) 450 Me-163B's.
-
Wasn't the A version a total POS anyway?
-
51A....nah, A36 could be fun though. :D
Used an Allison engine. No supercharger (I believe). The Brits were less than impressed.

I think the A-36 Apache looked very odd too. Because out of the bottom of the nose were 2 .50 cal machine guns.

620 Mustang Mk.I, 150 Mustang Mk.1a and 310 P-51A (Mustang Mk.II) constitute the basic Allison powered P-51s, excluding 500 A-36A Apaches.
Unlike the Me 163, the Allison P-51s were very effective and infinitely more useful. ;)
My regards,
Widewing

Don't encourage em Widewing. All they want is the version with the 4 20mms
Make it an A36 or an RAF Mustang I and I'm for it :aok
-
P-51A was 3 months later designated the A-36 Apache, a dive-bomber :rofl seriously
:salute

And I dont think that the 20mm version would see any service in AHII anyways. I'd rather have 4 or 6 .50s/Maneuverability than 4 20mms/a whole lot less maneuverability.

and what's wrong with that?

I belive the Apache also had dive flaps under the wings, much the same in opperation as the JU-87.
I like the idea of the Allison powerd version, if for no other reason than it would be alot of fun to land killz in it.

No, it just didn't have great high altitude performance.

Which would make it a great MA dog.

Much like the Ju87, it had dive brakes not dive flaps. I know, splitting hairs.
ack-ack

There actually was a pilot named Mike Russo that became the first Mustang ace in the A-36. Now that's if you consider the A-36 as a Mustang.

the last toys added was the P-39 and that SdKfz-251 thing, which IMO was a complete waste of space. We have 6 spits,3-38s,4 jugs, 5- 190s,5 F4Us, and 6-109s.But only 2 ponys. Why not add a plane that people want to fly. Yes there are alot of other countries planes i'd like to see in the game also, but I like the 51s.
-
Spits and 109s fought the whole war as major, frontline fighters. The P-51 did not. The P-51A was not nearly as significant as any one of our Spits/109s/190s/F4Us/P-47s/P-38s.
I don't object to getting it, just saying why I think it is low priority.

What? P-39 wasn't a waste of space. I fly the P-39D in the MA all the time. Vanscrew (Vandetta) is a great stick in that thing too. The P-39s also fill a huge gap in MW and EW as attack planes, not to mention AvA.
In our last FSO, the P-39D's ate the Zekes alive. I myself got 10 kills through-out the whole 3 frames. 5 the first one alone.
