I've found a desert sand B-24J profile which should be OK for the MA and go with the new desert terrains as well. There's a couple of problems with this skin though. It is not possible to get a good match on the nose panel to the sand colour and the letter "D" is mirrored on the inside of the outer cowlings. The skin is up at http://www.ah-skins.com/ (http://www.ah-skins.com/) if you want to take a closer look.

You have a photo to back that one up Greebo?
Thinking it's a profile gone wrong.
It's a hodgepodge of Ploesti style markings with 1944 star and bar. I'd make sure there was photo back up before I believe that profile. The 15th painted their Pathfinder aircraft overall gray and someone might have mistaken it for desert pink.
This image is from a 15th AF B24 crew i researched for a long time. This was their pathfinder B24J in overall gray. It would be easy to mistake for a tan. Anyway if you have photos I'd love to see em. Never saw a J painted that way

Did more digging and a January 44 15th AF bird would have had different tail markings as well. Those are the markings used by 9th AF during Ploesti. OK so I'm picky :) There was a B24D that shows up in the most famous of the Ploesti photos that carried the letter D on the rudder and engine cowl. Lil Jughaid.
And yes you really have my curiousity up now :)

Youre right, I would certainly mistake that for tan!

Thanks for the info Guppy. There's no photo back up I'm afraid, just another profile of the same aircraft in another book. This is why I usually make it a rule to only work from a photo. Oh well, I'll scrap this one and put it down to experience.

I'd still bet it's an all gray pathfinder. note the open bomb bay doors are the same color as the side of the 24. If it was a two tone camo those would show a different color rolled up. There is also no demarcation line on the fuselage for the camo.

At WPAFB Museum they have a B24 with the noseart titled Strawberry squeak in Desert Tan and it has a Pink Hue to it. Methinks the website for the museum has a picture of it.

I think that one is a B-24D with the glasshouse nose Hajo. We are only allowed to skin B-24 variants with turret noses.
Guppy is probably right that this aircraft was grey in RL. I considered changing the skin to grey but thought it would end up looking like a badly skinned aluminium aircraft. So unless I can get good info (tailcode, noseart etc.) on a desert pink B-24 with a turreted nose, I'll have to drop this skin.

That would be this plane.

You know after looking at the pictures of the 24d & comparing it to the 24j I think there is a demarcation line on the 24j in particular to the right & under the nose turret near the lower window and around the base of the bomb bay doors.
On the two aircraft what I would call demarcation lines are almost a perfect match when you compare them.
Also the old black & white photo of the 24d with its bomb bay doors open the demarcation lines are almost gone as they are tucked up inside the plane. Now if you compare the open doors on both planes on the right top & the top left portion of the doors on the two black & whites the colour tone of both doors don't quite match the rest of the fuselage. I think that is because the portion of the open doors we see are both maybe sky blue?
Also the leading edge of the left wing on the 24j the demarcation line is a match with the 24d it is right down the middle of the radius with the sun almost over head in both pictures.

I guess we will never know for sure unless a better picture, person who was there,or documentation shows up.

I have this picture of a grey pathfinder from the 15TH Airforce I thought I would throw in for your files.

Plus a link of that plane & related pictures of the incident.

I think these shots also match & explain the sky blue demarcation lines around the engines as well on the 24J.
