Is there a radar floor in AH? And if there is, what is it [currently set to] and is it AGL or ASL?

AGL and it is 500 feet, however, you will always show up on sector radar (if enemy HQ is in tact).
We're trying to convince HTC to make the 500 feet and below radar actually stealthy(no sector bar )

Where do I post my vote for that? I'm trying to do stealthy lancaster raids (NATE, PYRO - prepare to be smacked around the chops =) And all my lovely ground hugging (NATE, PYRO - you know I rock at this =) is for sod all 'cause I have this glowing beacon over my bellybutton =)
Perhaps, they might want to make it so that there is an 'uncertainty' factor as to which of the sectors you are actually in. If you fly low, it might randomly decide to show you as being in one of 4 sectors, simulating 'reports of an aircraft'...

I reckon if they introduce something like this it should be REALLY low like 100ft or something.
Or lower. Frankly, 20 ft would be very interesting.
So it takes real skill and concentration not to crash or reveal yourself.

The problem with that is that the radar is based on AGL, rather than actual radar visibility of yourself, and, because this is a world of polygons, there are lots of terrain types where you can be at 15 ft true agl and still be visible on radar. These are usually crucial points which put you on radar long enough for people to know where to look for you, and give them a lot of information about how you are flying.
Upshot of this is that it quickly makes people feel they're wasting their time doing true sneaky flying (used to happen lots in WB in the med terrain trying to sneak in on F2).
So the AGL rates need to be a little forgiving. Perhaps: 50 ft is hidden, 51-100ft gives you away after 5s - so if you're just crossing a funny polygon edge, and you cling to it like momma, you won't instantly appear.

I thought the non-radar buffer was local terrain relative and that no matter where you were on the map, ground-hugging under 500ft will keep you off the dot radar map.
With this in mind, a threshold of 50ft to keep you off radar altogether wouldn't be such a radical step.
Obviously the ideal solution would be to model radar coverage areas (including shadow), but I'd just settle for the above.

There is some terrain out there which fouls that theory up tho; the kinda terrain that looks like the bottom of an egg-carton. There is plenty of terrain out there that looks like that, foothills, gorges, valleys. Try the canyons in the duelling terrain, and you'll quickly see that the averaging mechanism has plenty of failures =(
These old-wb-shots don't show how low we were most of the time, but then I rarely take screenshots while doing maneuvers at 20 feet =)

I would like to see 300' AGL as the radar floor. 50' to 100' is doable but just a bit too tight for a long flight. 200' AGL would be ok too.
My WB squad, the Rough Raiders used to do a lot of NOE attacks, they were a blast! Really miss that aspect of buffing. I would like it so there were no dots or bar dar under the radar floor limit, whatever that turns out to be, and icons only visible within D1.5 or so.

I would not go over 200ft. AGL. The occasional blimps that you could reveal on counter bar could give a sense that something was going on over that sector without givin away much info about the forces involved.
Anyway, I think this is fine tuning. The most important thing is having the stealth possibility implemented, first. Htc could polish the details afterwards. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif)

Hmmm. The British radar used in BoB(Chain Home) couldn't detect anything under 1.5º elevation. At a range of 25 miles(1 AH map sector) that equals over 3,000ft...
Although, Chain Home was probably one of the crappiest radars used in WW2. (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Pepe: I'd love it to be 200 feet agl, but the problem is that it has to use the centre-point of polygons for that calculation. So when you cross vertexes, that distance can change drastically, even though infact you are still actually the same altitude over the true ground level.

That is incorect kfsone is 500 ft above the poly no mater where you are on the poly.

At the times I normally fly there arent enough on (20-40)to worry about offmapping.
I personnaly would also report them and also hate the game "Hide the CV"
I always would have prefered having no dar at all below 200-500'. But with offmappers, can Dar be used on the map to just have an icon along the edge to indicate transgressors?
Which coding would be easier? Offmap full coverage from 0' and up with arrow pointing to edge of map showing that we have guys outside.
