Title: Load Out
Post by: redman555 on July 08, 2008, 03:02:18 PM
Always been curious about this, well, you know how in AH-2, u can pick gun loadouts, back in WWII, was it the pilots choice on how they would load there planes? for instance, the six 50 cals in F4F, or the four 50 cals in the F4F? or was it like a commanders choice, or even, was it depending on what the mission was?

Commander's call on everything. Anything else would be a cluster-xxxx. It takes alot of time to rig pylons and such. Logistics would be crazy to allow all pilots to pick their load outs.  :D

It depends. Another example is the 109s with gondolas. Usually the greenhorns had them, and the group leaders (the vets) would have them removed. Often the leader would engage single cons while the rest orbited to cover him.

In this example it's pilot preference, as far as I understand it.
