Been sitting here for 20 minutes now waiting for orange to open up. Was 142/100, now it's 132/100. Love it how it doesn't go 132/150 after 20 minutes...now it's 130/100...going on 25 minutes.
-
Go get a job and stop waiting on it. :D

At the risk of appearing stupid, why don't you fly in Blue?

Ended up going there, though there was a fight I wanted to take part in that was in orange after I got discoed.
-
Aaah, got it.
Yeah, one thing I've suggested on the wishlist is that the arena's would hold a slot for a period of about 5 minutes for any player who leaves and doesn't enter another arena. (Discoed, exited to fix something, etc.)

Saw that too. Just makes me mad that after 30 minutes it was still about 130/100

Time really has nothing to do with "when" you will be able to get back in.
If the numbers drop in Orange below 100 you will be able to get in
OR
If the population in Blue grows to a certain percentage of its MAX, additional slots will be added to the Orange MAX
Either one of these conditions could take mere minutes or hours.
-
175 people have to be logged into blue before the other one goes up to 150
-
It's a load of bollocks really.
Blue arena usually has 50 MORE slots than orange arena, when it is used considerably less than orange. It makes no sense.
I've sat literally for 45 minutes waiting for slots to open up in Orange. I don't want to fight in blue because most of the times the fights are awful and the all of the good sticks are in Orange.
-
as I said in a thread I started a few weeks back.............the entire process needs a re-think......and judging by the responses.......it should get one.

It was rethunk many different ways BEFORE they even did it. If you can come up with something better that HAS NOT been suggested before (use the search feature) I'm sure HTC would love to hear it. An arena is where they place a map (mostly as a focal point so we know which way is up), so that we can fly planes. "blue", orange" are just names, fun can be had in either arena. Only fools limit their own fun.
-
retunk :huh
-
While waiting for Orange to open up, why not go to the DA? Never has arena cap problems and always has a good fight going on.

DA

You sure? :aok

I'm sure enoguh! ;)

It's a dynamic cap. If you want the cap limit to go up in the full arena, say arena A, go to arena B. As the limit is approached in B, the cap goes up in A. Just pop back and forth checking.
The thing I don't understand about the cap is how it's size is determined and when. I've seen it at 200/250 (Orange/Blue) in what I consider prime time and 400/450 in the middle of the night or middle of the morning when there's not nearly that many people on.
That's confusing. What I mean is, the limits are greater, easier to get in anywhere, when they don't need to be and vise versa when there are lots of people trying to get into a particular arena.
Although, I've suspected this is just on my front end. Another conspiracy.

I believe that there are designated time frames when "balancing" is actually active ... when it's off ... the arena MAX is set to 450 in both LW arenas ... which will not go down, nor go up from 450.
-
The only time cap bothers me is when i cant get in the arena that my squad is in.

I'll wait patiently for the next thread on this topic to be started a week from now.

Yo Mcfly, these threads have been started almostly WEEKLY since the Arena's split. Almost what....2 years ago? Yeah, maybe in another 2 years HTC will care? Wait, they won't because they more important things to do (like Fly Dale's RV8, drink scotch while watching Skuzzy trip over cables in the server room, smell Sudz's farts after consuming raw beef, etc).

I would like to see any fish fried(i dont disagree in any way)but i have not seen any tuna or catfish on the plate seance i started playing (i am keeping in mind im relatively new compared to a lot of people)But i see a lot of valid complaints and not yet has anything been done ....that i have seen anyway. Not that im right(gaww i dont want anyone to jump down my throat)As it seems their is a lot of people that love all HTC dose and they think HTC cant do any wrong. No big deal to me though if it never changes.....heak i hear we are going to have combat tour in two weeks :D

This sounds familiar...
-
What bugs me is when I see Orange @ 300/300, log out for a minute or two and then jump back in to see it @ 304/300, ????
Anyway, I don't care about going to blue except like this morning when orange @ 175/100 & blue @ 38/100. It's just a waste of time then.
Perhaps I'll take a pointer from the other thread and just perma-log into orange.

Sure lots of people complain, ( i think it really is only a small percentage of subscribers, but a large percentage of BBS posters), but the thing that K said is that it is posted with the same complaints every couple of weeks. Those complainers, if they would better use their time to do a search of these boards would find that there have been many discusions about it, with many suggestions for fixes. This by the way is how HTC arrived at the solution they use (dynamic caps) It was one of the things discused and tried and it was what worked best.
If you or anyone else should come up with a better way to keep it fair to the most people wanting to play and keeping the cap under 500 and that HASN'T been mentioned or tried before (please use the search button), I'm sure HTC will very happy to listen.
-
If something keeps being said about this ,It seems something should be done i would think
If HTC tried to change things to please everyone who b&m's regularly about something they'd all short circuit from trying to do 27 different opposing things simultaneously.

htc is now too busy chasing down logs for squeekers that do a mass .report thing in the arenas hehe :)

better options are suggested every time this topic comes up. until they are implemented, people will continue to post about it. perhaps the endless requests for new aircraft etc take attention away from the stuff that makes a big difference and is easily fixed, like caps, map rotations etc.

Well ... take a look at the "News, Announcements, & Information" forum ... you will see that in March, they released Version 2.12 and 4 patches since then ... so there is your last "catfish fry" ... and another one will probably served up soon. Also, take a look at what changes are listed in those releases. A good majority of them are bugs that people found and passed on to HTC ... so they do listen, but they tend to ignore whining.
When it comes to gameplay ... if someone or a group of people don't like something ... it doesn't mean that it is broken ... it means that they just don't like it.
HT takes gameplay very seriously and has only made changes when he deemed it necessary. There is no one that has there finger on the heartbeat of Aces High more than HT, and no one but him and HTC knows what is best for Aces High ... it's how they butter their bread, so don't think for 1 second that someone or some people whining about a game aspect is going to sway him unless he can actually see that the bottom line is being hurt from it.
I don't love all that HTC does, but I am grateful for whatever they do ... and in my 6+ years playing this game, I have never found a case where HT did not make the right choice.

better options ? ... says who ?
Most options that I have ever seen are only half baked and are biased toward what they are complaining about ... most never look at the whole picture.

Umm i dont need to check the front web page i was here for that,But when i first came on i was ranked 4000,or something,so that means over 4000 people are paying 15 dollars a month. If i do the math it seems plenty could be done besides a new patch and a few new rides. It would not take a whole lot of recourses to fix the balancing cap issue

Stop the under 400 people cap most people hate it,look back on the posts its a fact people are sick of it(lots of paying people) :salute

OK, 410 log on, Orange has hit its cap of 400, your one of the 10, what do you do now?
-
I assume their is a cap because of server issues(But i admit i have no freaking clue way their is a cap)But if its a server thing then they "have" to have it not to overload their network.

It's to balance the numbers between the two arenas... without the dynamic caps, the numbers would probably often look something like;
Orange;550/550
Blue;34/550
Now... which would you rather... our current system or something like that?
-
something like that
-
Yes but i think it is a bad idea to do it with low numbers....like to go from 200 to 100 when their is 300 people on just let em play in one arena.Who cares if the other one is empty, at that point let the people play together. When people get home in midday it will fill up.look at night theirs plenty to mostly fill both, with high numbers :salute and its not just me i looked back at threads this has made a lot of people unhappy

Its not a server issue. Skuzzy has said that even at peak on TT it hasn't hit 10% YET. The arenas were split due to the larger populations having a tendency to "horde" to attack a base taking away the fun by a great many that can't stand against a hord, or being stuck in one and having to fight your teamates for a kill. Basically it was causing people to UN-subscribe from the game.
Sure they could set the cap static at 300 we'll say, but at some point there will be more than 300 logged in, and if your the 310 person logging in your stuck playing in an arena with only 10 people in it. Is this fun?, Is it fair? Will it cause more people to go AFK while they are at work just to save their spot?
The dynamic caps aren't perfect, but its the best way. So far all you've done is repeat the same answers that were posted, and shot down by HTC before. Come up with something new, I'm every idea hasn't been thought of over the last two years, give us a fresh one !
-
You want something that will work ummm gee let me think...O... have only one arena why wont that work? And asking for anything fresh in here is like asking for people to stop complaining about ho tards vulching alt monkeys dweeb planes and the defenders of HTC

Are you really that dense ? ... or do you have a hard time reading and comprehending ?
He said ...

So do us and yourself a favor, and do a search on this subject ... you will have enough reading material to keep you busy for week.

Im not going to start insulting people i see your sinking down to that depth so i will not go on ...and dense? ill be happy to send you my IQ level .name calling is the what the uneducated and low class do.Country numbers are always about the same making a cap from 200 to 100 in early day dose nothing for hording. Then you just got 15 in orange that are all one country ...You still have the same problem
-
actually, I don't think upping the cap in one arena during low peak times is the problem. I don't think there would be a problem at all if set to 300. But the big issue, is that there is little to no time then to populate the other arena. I might speculate that people logging on, seeing the only arena to fly in has 10-20 people, might be a little upset as well. It really is a compromise. One arena doesn't get the a large cap, so that when it is full, at least there is another arena that has a viable population. The only other solution I could think of, would be to set one arena at a cap of 300, and as soon as prime time sets in, auto switch people....a move I think would totally peeve people off. It's just hard to imagine, from my pov, that there is a better solution if the developer feels, and community feels (as by htc stats that we are not privy to) that arena size has a direct affect on the way the community interacts. Also, it looking down the road, I'm sure subs continue to increase, what happens if there is no system, tried and tested, in place to accomdate a larger player base? I don't always agree with HT, but I would never assume I have a better idea of how to build a great game, and from where I sit, the decision (though obviously doesn't please everyone all the time) is the most beneficial in the long run for the majority.

If your IQ is so high ... then use it.
It's your snotty little attitude that you have come across with, after people have taken time to answer your questions with some honest thought and input, that generated that response.
No matter what your told, outside of what you want to hear, has generated nothing but pissy "I know better" comments from you. Change your know-it-all tact and you will see a change in responses.

Pluck ... I believe in "non-prime time" ... the LWO and LWB caps are set to 450 with no balancing activated.

guess I stand corrected. was just figuring if you left one arena with a high cap for too long, there wouldn't be ample time/interest of players to populate arena. guess I better contact my boss, so that they can let me out earlier:)

pssst it's "you're" not "your". I could point out the numerous grammatical errors and run on sentences as well. If you are going to make claims of a high intellect, you shouldn't communicate like a Jr. highschool drop out.

Early day (non prime time) they cap at 100 around 1 pm eastern. Is that not low peak? And thank you for you well thought out comment pluck. And Steve Einstein did horrible with grammar in school

Also, don't forget Titantic Tuesday ... :D
All the chicken littles who scream ... "The server is falling" ... and think the arena split is due to server capacity somehow miss that little tidbit, with the arena MAX set to 750 and the server runs just fine.

Not to worry Sunka ... you aren't the first noob to wade into the "I got all the answers" pool without doing some real research and spending about 5 minutes coming up with the grand solution.
What is low peak and what is high peak can only be determined by HTC ... they have all the numbers that we have no clue about nor access to. HiTech has been at this a long time and this game is his bread and butter, along with his staff, so I leave it up to them to determine really what is best for Aces High and it's continuing cash flow income.

I will...... just as people did with AW

I will...... just as people did with AW
AW was sold out, they did what they thought was right for them. They didn't have the resources to fix the patch work game engine and decided to take the nice big check and move on. None of the people subscribed to that game had even the smallest chance at helping that game survive. EA had there own game and bought AW just to kill it hoping that the AW subscription base would move over to their game.It didn't happen mostly because EA killed off AW which pissed off most of the subscription base.
Should HT decide he has had enough and sell out there would be nothing any of us could do. Luckily at this point AH still seems to be a "passion" of HT and he is still working on it. HT has listen to its subscribers before, and I'm sure will continue to listen. Thats why I said, if you can come up with something that hasn't been suggested and rejected, or tested yet that can keep two LW arenas even and fair for the MAJORITY of players (not just the few who like to come in here and complain) I'm sure HTC would love to hear it.
So have you got any new suggestions?
-
No, i believe i'll just sit back and watch for some more time and make offhanded comments like seems to be the case with the forms. But thank you Fugitive for your well thought out comments, and giving me something to think about. :salute
