Title: John McCain, Prisoner of War: A First-Person Account
Post by: Russian on July 09, 2008, 05:11:21 PM
I don't know if this a re-post, but some might find this a very interesting read. McCain about his experience as POW.

Yeah, that and the fact he's often defied the Republican party are the reasons I'm voting for him.

I trust him to do what he thinks is right rather than what others in power tell him to do. I may not agree with what he does, but at least I can have hope that external influences won't control him - and he's certainly demonstrated that he can be trusted to do what he thinks is best for his nation. Its the most important credential for a wielder of power that I can think of.

I don't believe any of us really know what Obama is thinking. In a "benefit of the doubt" sense I'll allow that he could possibly be a great President. I just don't have any way of knowing what he's about, and I damn sure don't like the political powers that are working to get him elected.

I don't like the political powers that are working to get McCain elected, either, FWIW :)

A little off the main topic, but still related, I have read and heard more than once the accounts of POWs using the design and building of houses, etc. , step by step in the minds to stay focused and sane as mentioned in the article.
I just wonder if any of these guys actually built the  houses they designed when released.
I think it would be interesting to know.

It definitely adds perspective to all the TV debates where McCain just sits there and watches others go on and dig themselves into a hole.

You mean if the prisoners built those houses?

I just think we need maturity and experience at the helm.

Obama is an IL. politician and you never know when one of those will get indicted. He's already had one close friend and fundraiser get convicted. Besides I dont see him ever reforming welfare or immigration as thats his base. If felons were able to vote I'd bet Obama would get 98% of the felon vote.

Reverse the life stories and I'd bet Obama would have ended up on the AA gun with Jane instead of staying in that prison and refusing release until his buddies were allowed to leave. Course Obama would never have been there in the first place.

Why do all his supporters avoid his middle initial or middle name?

Who types out someones full name when they're talking about someone? I don't see everyone typing out John Sidney McCain every time they talk about him

Yep, that's why he's getting my vote.
