Title: Strange gunning experience last night.
Post by: Rickenbacker on June 14, 2000, 06:26:00 AM
Last night I went with someone whose handle eludes me at the moment, in a B-26 as a gunner. We were attacked by an NME from behind, I fired merrily away, and suddenly the engines went to idle, and the plane started spinning violently down. I thought we'd been hit, but rode it down anyway just for fun, trying to hit the bastiche what done it  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif). When we crashed into the ground I was awarded a safe landing! The poor bastard flying the plane died though...

That was me was shot that B26 down....remember it well......I shot a wing off I think, cant really comfirm tho cos I was makin high speed passes rather than coming in from the rear.....took about 4 passes.

TIP:  Dont fire from so far away.....you stand almost no chance of hitting an incomming fighter past 1.5k

Yeah, I know. I generally fire at much too long range, though, just in case it's a newbie who might be scared off, or at least to spoil his aim. If the attacker knows what he's doing that's of course a waste of ammo, but strange as it might seem, running out of ammo is usually not a problem  (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/Smileys/default/smile.gif).

The strange thing about this flight, though, was that I followed the plane in a perfectly vertical crash, but lived and got a safe landing...

Is it just me or did slicing and dicing bombers get a lot easier with 1.03?
