Title: M8 turret is indestructable.
Post by: Motherland on July 13, 2008, 01:39:25 PM: One of the little buggers just drove up behind my tiger, put his gun against the back, and started blasting away... I swung my 88mm around and put 5-6 rounds into his turret (the gun wouldn't traverse low enough to hit his hull) but it didn't do anything and he eventually killed me. I didn't start rolling film until the last shot or two, but even 1 88mm from inches away should have popped his turret easily.
I'll post film in a minute.

Motherland, as the results of another test show, you can kill a M8 using your pintle gun
Shoot at the hole in the top of the turret, it should disable the turret in a matter of seconds. Keep firing and eventually the M8 should explode

Ive been turreted in a M8 many times
All though this is not a good comparison I did read were an m8 during WWII did take out a Tiger in this exact fashion.

Post by: sethipus on September 05, 2008, 05:16:43 PM: This isn't hard data, but I will add that I too have seen this indestructable M8 turret thing before. Since I'm in the T34 more than any other tank I just chalked it up to the lame-azz 76mm gun, but yeah, now that you mention it, I have hit that M8 turret many times, and it really should be popping and doesn't. Crazy stuff.

I'm willing to go to the DA or whatever and test this if someone wants to meet up in game tonight.

In AH, there's no animation for a shot passing throw the window, or armor, it either pings, or bounces off, I pretty sure that in real life, your shot would have passed all the way through the backside of the turret, in AH, that simulates by bouncing off.

I'm not 100% sure about this theory, but I have never seen a shot passing through any vehicle, so this could be the case.

Post by: lyric1 on September 09, 2008, 10:22:51 AM: Ran into an m8 in my Tiger the other day he drove up to my rear was shooting away I tried HE AP in his turret & nothing fired off about 6 rounds. Got tired of him so backed up to get a shot on the hull & 1 shot he was gone.
