He wrote a book called "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" that I thought was even funnier. Might make a movie, although the funniest bits perhaps would not translate well onto the screen.

In fact, I think I'm just the sort of person who could use an electric monk.

Sorry - I'm still p****d about the travesty that was the first film.  If they're not going to have the budget and talent to do the books justice, leave them alone.

I recommend watching the TV series instead - it was superior to the film and covered much of 'Restaurant At The End Of The Universe'.

Bill Nighy is always good, but the rest of the cast.... big snooze.

Really...? I started reading that years ago and found it very slow, had a hard time getting into it... gave up after 60 pages or so. I'll have to give it another chance.

For someone who never watched or read any of it before the movie. I thought it was good and enjoyed it thoroughly.

My coworker has the original TV series, maybe I will borrow it.

Nef, if you can get your hands on the original radio shows, they're even better than the TV version, IMO. Same material, mostly, but the comedic timing is better suited for radio... plus your imagination provides vastly better effects than the sub-Doctor-Who budget allowed for. :)

I'll check it out, Thanks Dux.
