Title: Questions about our Pixel Pilot
Post by: Captfish on July 13, 2008, 11:05:21 PM
Was just wondering about our little buddy

Our pixel pilots weight ?
How tall is he/she ?
How many G's can he/she handle before blackout? redout too? I know about the G-meter in some of the planes I just never looked.
How many G's is he/she pulling when they start to feel the effects?
Shoe size? :D
Hair Color? Is he/she bald under that cool leather cap?!
Any other stats on him/her?

I am being sarcastic and having fun with this thread but I am half serious too any stats would be appreciated  :salute

No one has the real numbers?

No exact one.. but he's pretty tall for a WW2 fighter pilot ;)

The Tiger's barrel is exactly 219.5 cm above ground at zero elevation.

Our virtual pilot has approx. 87% of that height, translating into ~191cm -> 6' 3.2"

And if you ever have seen a real 109 cockpit, you really wonder how HTC manages to squeeze our pixel pilot into it :D

Bite your tongue.  At 5'4" / 220lbs (yes 20 are probably extra) I can still carry your rabbit arse to and from the DQ while holding a blizzard in the other hand .   :rofl

There was a thread one time where IIRC someone on the HTC staff mentioned the pilot was exactly 6' tall. it was a baseline number I thought used for head positions in the views...

search help, aircraft, and requests for view and head position threads, you'll probably find it.

ya know what's funny about using height to figure head positions? i'm 6'2, 163#. the cessna i rent at the club, always has the seat adjusted too low for me. i ALWAYS need to raise it up a couple inches. there's only 2 other people in the club as tall as me, and one of them is my CFI. his prefernece i think is the pipers, so he only flys this plane when he's teaching, putting him in the right seat. the other one always rents out the twins. i've never seen him in a singel engine plane since i've been in this club.

just seems strange that shorter than 6' people need the seat LOWER than a tall skinny dude.........i mean, how the hell do they get a good view over the glare shield?

Different leg/body length ratios. Some people have relatively long legs, others don't

And regarding to 200lbs for a 6' pilot - that's not much at all if you keep in mind he doesn't fly naked. Boots, gear, parachute, and so on to add up.
