Title: DA alt Cap and no tempest
Post by: angelsandair on July 14, 2008, 01:39:25 AM
In the DA earlier today, I was upping from a base and SUPRISE!, I got jumped by a Tempest who was 15k up there an picking everybody. I think it would be great if we got rid of the Tempest and got an Alt Cap of 10 or 12k. (only in Furballing Arena) All I see now in the DA are Tempests and 190s, only reason I wouldn't care about the 190 is because I've seen players make that thing look like a Hurri 2c (m00t can be an example in his Ta-152  :rock)

I hope that the Alt Cap isn't hard to model (engine goes out when you go above the CAP) but if it is, could you atleast remove the Tempest?

People would fly a typhoon then.If you ban that, la7, then la5 etc.etc.

Same reasons as perking la7, people would just move on to the next similar plane, la5, which frankly, isn't that much different, and you'd have the same problem again.

Yes, but I can catch a Typhoon on the deck if need-be in my 109K4, I can also do the same at 15k with the Typhoon and the La-7. But you make a very strong point croduh.  :aok

I don't think they could put an alt cap in one particular sector without a whole lot of work, and what does it matter if the guy's 15k, anyway?  It's not like all that excess alt is doing him any good.

Also, it's kind of funny that you flat out state your reason for wanting the Tempest banned is because you can't catch it in your 109K4.  You might as well just come the whole circle and state you can't out run it, either.

I want it banned because people who fly it do it for one reason and one reason only, to improve their non-existant l33t sc0r3. That guy was just sitting over the base 12-15k picking anybody who upped.... If need be, I'll get a P-51 an go co-alt with him, he'll only then drag me to his base...

You can't change human behavior with rules.

Yes, but I'd rather see a P-51 or a P-47 up there, I can easily catch those in the right planes.  :aok :noid

First of all, get your definitions straight:  The Tempest was not picking.  A 'pick' is when you attack someone who's already engaged.  The Tempest pilot was looking for easy kills on people who weren't paying attention.  Everything gets called a pick these days.  Last night I was accused of picking when I was fighting two lower bandits by myself! :P

Second, don't complain about it, get revenge.  Up a P-47N and climb to 20k or 25k ft.  When you see him, there will be no escape.  I did that in the DA to a Tempest pilot, ronen, who behaves a lot like you describe.

Oh no, he was jumping into other fights and ruining them.  :aok

By the time you have reached 25k in that fighter climbing worse than a Lanc, the Temp will be long gone. ;)

I'm not saying you are entirely wrong AAA, but....how about going to one of the other islands with another person, and actually duelling?

Multi-bandit madness is always going to have a certain dynamic. I see no reason for the "furball lake" because you can get the same thing in the MA. It is just your typical MA furball with unperked Tempests.

I always considered the DA a place to get away from all the considerations of the MA and just play with 1v1 ACM as an art. Like I say,  if I want to fly in an enviroment where I have to consider the other factors...keeping my energy state as high as practical, watching my back, dealing with multiple cons of any possible type and energy state, trying to at least crudely work as a team with the other green guys, considering wheter to egress/don't egress at this particular time, etc-I'll just go back to the MA.

I'd do that too, but you dont always get the satisfaction of getting suprised by what you're opponent is flying. I've tried the "suprise me" thing, and it isn't very fun in 1 vs. 1... :(

And there's also the flight time to the fight, which can be 10 minutes long in the main arena.  In the DA, you can just dive into the furball right after takeoff. :D
