Title: Un-explained perk point loss

One of our squad members experienced a mid-flight loss of an Arado 234 and subsequent loss of 70 perk pts. for no apparent reason.
The only damage to the airplane was a forward fuel tank leak, there was no fire, the airplane was not overspeeding, and while conducting a normal descent for landing it suddenly blitzed off the screen and returned the pilot to the tower....minus 70 perk pts.
What is going on here?
