Hola,
The trend in the past is to turn VSYNC OFF to improve FPS, however some folks who track gunnery stats. swear that with VSYNC ON they have higher percentages.
Is this the case in AH? or is this a WB issue?

Per Lephturn, keep V-sync ON, or you'll regret it, you may experience 'rubber bullets' syndrome I believe (Leph, you there?)
. You won't notice that much FR increase with it off.

<-------Never found the option where I could turn it off, where is it ? (Elsa ErasorX SDR/ Getforce 256 based card with latest Nvidia Ref Drivers)

The dropped frames that are not be drawn with VSYNCH OFF tend to mess with your gunnery and make it more difficult. There was some debate about whether VSYNCH OFF would actually cause rubber bullet syndrome (where hits seem to do no damage), but I've had several folks report that the rubber bullet problem was fixed when they turned VSYNCH back ON.
As to where to flip this toggle, I don't know. I don't mess with it. By default VSYNCH will always be ON or ENABLED, so if you haven't messed with it you should be OK.
I'd look for the setting on one of the advanced tabs of your Vid card's properties page.
FYI, the only reason this "feature" was ever made available was for benchmarking, at least originally. At lower resolutions and/or high speeds, if VSYNCH is on, your framerate will max out at your monitor's refresh rate. If you are benchmarking video cards, VSYNCH ON will tend to make them all score the same, or very similar. THey would all score identical at or above your refresh rate. However, with VSYNCH off, there are some frames that will never get drawn, as the vid card does not wait to synch with the monitor refresh before moving on to the next frame. Your "framerate" number will increase if you turn VSYNCH off, but this is the theoretical framerate of the card, not what you see. Remember with VSYNCH OFF you don't get to actually see that number of frames per second, because some are never displayed due to being out-of-phase with the refresh of the monitor.
Personally, I don't see the benefit of turning VSYNCH off, all it does is make the number higher, not necessarily the speed or smoothness of the display. I reccomend you leave VSYNCH ON at all times.

I was thinking 'bout my baby and lettin' her rip
Always got me through so far

The ONLY reason you would want turn Vsync off would be if doing benchmarking.

Hola,
With the Nvidia reference drivers you need to modify the registry (careful) to see the "Coolbits" tweak utility / settings.
Export a copy of your registry first (if you don't know what your doing, then don't).
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvTweak]"Coolbits"=dword:00000003
Again, unless your familiar with Registry Entries, make a backup.

"Rubber Bullets" aren't fixed by Vsync. How could they? (Hit detection is not a function of the graphics card). Anyway, my gunnery study didn't reveal Vsync to be a factor in lost bullets. Starting and stopping the guns (As opposed to opening the hose and lettin' it spray), however, did have an effect. This is borne out by the experience some of us get with the "Stutter" caused by when you open fire: The screen just freezes for a second. That ain't VSync.
OTOH, if, in its faster-than-monitor updates, it doesn't draw the part of the frame with the hit sprites, or if it clips some of the tracers, you might find your gunnery hurting.
Vsync off does cause graphical weirdness in some games; I currently have it on, and frankly, I don't notice much difference from before when I had it off.

Keep it on, there is nothing to be gained by turrning it off. AH has always used triple buffering and hence is not v synce locked.
The only way for FPS to exceed your refresh rate is to not display the frame, hence you would still be seeing the same numbers of frames per sec any way.

There is really no reason to turn vsync off, ever, except for benchmarking. While turning it off may improve your framerate number, you dont SEE any more frames since your monitor can only display so many fps(Your refresh rate, the max fps with vsync on) Pluss you'll get annoying shearing artifacts.

Darn...I checked my vsync hoping it was off so that by turning it back on my gunnery would improve. Unfortunately it was already on so I guess I just have to get used to being a crappy shot. :)
