Title: Aircraft explosion blast radius
Post by: titanic3 on July 16, 2008, 12:05:23 PM
I would like to see an aircraft explosion radius in-game. I would like to see when an aircraft explode or hit the ground, a blast radius is formed, based on the size and cargo the airplane is holding (how much bombs/rockets/ammunition is with the plane). However, the explosion only effects other players, excluding drones and tanks. The explosion only kill one target, the one closest to the center of the blast radius. This will make the game more realistic, without the fear of newbs doing kamikaze attacks. That means you also have to be careful when attack enemy aircrafts, not to get too close.

Um, aircraft didn't actually explode all that much when hit with fighter guns. Except when they caught on fire, burned abit, and then went *BOOM*

Aircraft in AHII DO go boom when you hit the pilot. Does your idea mean that if I put a single round through the head of the enemy a/c's pilot, at 150 yards, I would be killed by the resulting explosion. When in the reality the thing would have just flown itself all the way to ground impact?

BTW, if you intend this as a anti-vulching measure, there are better ones. More and better field guns, for instance.

I think that hits to a bomber's loaded bomb bay should result in a munitions explosion--under the right conditions, of course. The large blast should have an area effect.

So if i kill the bomber in the middle the blast radius will kill the rest? IM IN!, thats unless of course everyone disagrees then hell, im against it.

I've never heard of it happening either, but I doubt that the whole war came and went without it taking place--perhaps even spontaeously as armed weapons are knocked around. Maybe, maybe not, but when you've got a couple tons of fuzed high explosives in close proximity, the danger is there.

In tha game, I have witnessed bombers taking hits, from a 40mm, to the inside of its open bomb bay. If this doesn't result in some sort of catastrophic explosion, something is wrong.

Hmm, that could be debatable...

As, imo, I think that after a 20mm Incidiary or, maybe even HE round punctured a fuel tank... I'm bettin that that's goin up, and gas like that doesn't burn slowly... it explodes...violently...
