Yeah, that bright orange-melon color underneath it isn't a good reference to use to make your plane blend in....
Aside from the pink color, the color is rather smooth. I mean that you've got some weathering around the panel lines which shows wear and tear, but that the rest of it is perfectly crisp panel lines with perfectly crisp rivets, and there's no shading, variations, fading of the paint.

Coral color on top and sky blue undersides. It was while they were based on Canton Island in 43-44.
