Spitfire Mk Vb ES124, coded AN-J of No. 417 Sqn RCAF, North Africa, 1942-43.
Finished in the Tropical Land Scheme of Mid Stone/Dark Earth over Azure Blue with Red spinner. Original codes overpainted when aircraft taken on strength, new codes painted in ID White.
Somewhat weather beaten looking, as Desert Air Force wasn't known for spit and polish!

Very nice. I have a poster from the IWM of four 417 Squadron Spitfire Vbs hanging over my computer. AN-V in the lead. Love that paint scheme :aok

I used that very poster for some ideas about field repaints/weathering (note the discolouration of the right upper roundel...)

That's the one :) Amazing how beat up she is. Talk about weathering.
