OHHH the humanity, let us pray this passes fast.I am tired of flopping around in the air like a fish out of water.. ;) But onward and upward,I shall prevail.. :D

Learn to ride that edge and you will be fine. :)

It's like stick shift or traction control, or abs in cars. You'll wonder how you ever put up with em for so long :)

no seat belts!

you'll get it, just hang in there. It took me about a week or so. Listen to the stall buzzer. Also, try fighting in the up and down for a while. :salute
-
And stay out of the 190s lol. They teach bad habits. Once the HO shot is missed all that is left is running ;)
-
Geez, I hadn't thought of that. It might explain my suckage in the game.
Nah...that would be too easy. :)
-
once you get used to it...you will never know the difference..and you will be able to do things you never knew you could (in a cartoon plane of course)

I can't stand driving auto :huh
-
I turned it off before I even started my two week trial.
I don't think I've ever flown with it on.

right on

So did I. I would never turn it back on for any reason.

Listen to the stall buzzer.
also notice the Stall Buzzer starts out at a low volume and gradually increases the volume getting louder and is the loudest right as you enter the buffet zone.....idealy you would not want to go past the medium volume range when you have gotten yourself into a slow turn/knife fight anything more and you are backing up instead of moving forward in the gaining angles.....
and to begin with you should not be in this situation to begin with if you can help it

Oh Falc, turn it back on unapologetically :) I've flown with it off and on. I like it on because of the ease. I do fancy the real pilots get a good edge without it, and with cannily using manual trim. I tried to always avoid those circumstance where a real edge was needed.
I'm of the dull butter knife school of AH dweebery.

Try turning combat trim off at the same time for a really wild ride (compared to having had both the stall limiter AND combat trim on)! Takes some getting used to but it will really increase the manuvers you can execute!

we have stall limeters on these planes? :O
-
no we don't. we have stall LIMITERS :D

:rofl :rofl
i'm doin good today, huh???? :O

well I am on my 3rd day with it off,and it is getting easier to fly..That edge is quite annoying at first, but I am staying int he same plane as much as I can seafire, and can fly it pretty well with it off..will change planes up every few days to get used to what each one does with it off...

Cap...
The "limeters" only come on the 38's with the built in bar. Shuffler needs his to make margaritas. :)

I'm another one of those guys who flies with it on, and I make no apology for that. I tried turning it off and after a couple of days and a bunch of 110s and Zekes that fell out of the sky, I turned it back on.
I fly the Zekes a fair bit in certain types of situations where it's very useful, and I think personally having the stall limiter on in the Zeke will yield the best maneuvering performance. I get pretty wild and crazy in the Zeke in a low-on-the-deck furball, and I can't imagine pulling some of that crap while "riding the edge". With the stall limiter I can jack that Zeke around as hard as it will go and not just fall out of the sky.
I do pretty well with the stall limiter on, and I don't feel compelled for reasons of manliness or whatever to turn it off. I may experiment with it off again sometime, but I'm in no hurry.

:rofl :rofl stick stirring dweeb. And when your epileptic fits won't shake me, just go for the HO! :lol

You will always be at a disadvantage in an angles fight with stall limiter turned on against someone that doesn't. That's the price you pay for flying with a crutch. If you're able to out turn someone else in a Zeke that has the stall limiter turned off, you were fortunate to run into a player that isn't very good. An average player in a Zeke with the limiter turned off will out maneuver you quite easily if you have the limiter enabled. You're just not going to be able to turn as tight as they are and with angle fighters such as the Zeke, being able to ride the edge of the envelope can mean the difference between being someone's kill stat or you making the other guy a kill stat.
You're only doing yourself harm in the long run by depending on using the crutch.

I'm sure you do but you'll lose pretty much every time if you try to go against an average or better pilot because you can't ride the edge while they can.

Dont worry Falcon, if I can do it you can :D
(fly the 109G2/G6 and the Spit V, they seem to stall the least. and dont ever pull too hard on the joystick if you are low and slow.) :D ;) :)

You need to learn NOT to jerk on the joystick so HARD. That is what is causing you to snaproll and auger all of your planes with the stall limiter turned off- you are jerking it much to hard and you lose control for a fair bit of time.
It is all about being SMOOTH on the stick and not just whipping it around as fast as possible.

Just a thought/question. Does it make a difference at higher speeds where you can't ride the edge because you would black out? Is the guy flying with it on going to be at a disadvantage until the fight get slow or not?
I got a new computer last year and installed AH. Sure enough, I forgot to go in and turn it off and I really had now clue until I tried to DA bighorn. Then I knew that something was up, but for 2 or 3 days in the MA I did not notice anything.

No. The limiter prevents you from getting close to max angle of attack. The exact value can even be set in Arena Settings (default value for StallLimitAOA = 2.0).
When you're flying so fast that you would rather black out long before getting close to the critical AoA, the limiter doesn't affect you at all.
When I started Ah2, I was almost exclusively flying the La7 in BnZ mode and had the stall limiter on for the first three months.
-
I really had no clue
:rofl Are you saying you got it now?

I believe that it is only applied when getting close to "stall" ... and I think it makes no difference if it's a high speed induced stall or a slow speed induced stall.
I too had stall limiter turn on for some strange reason and flew happily along, until I did run into someone, that I knew (who was good), and I got my arse handed to me. During the fight, I was not able to get the edge performance that I was use to and really needed. I took a look at the "settings" and sure enough stall limiter was checked on ... which I immediately checked off and all was good after that.

Well, I would say something, but in your old age you probably wont remember what all this is about when you read it (if you could even find the thread that is), so I wont waste my time.
Oups, I already did :O
