Title: Spit Vb Skin - 111 RAF Night Fighter

Spitfire Mk Vb coded JU-E of No. 111 Sqn RAF, flown by S/Ldr Brotchie, Debden, February, 1942.

After being ordered to operate in the Night Fighter role in December 1941, 111 Sqn's aircraft were overpainted in Special Night, obscuring all nationality markings and serials. Original markings replaced with special low visibility Night Fighter markings (forerunner of the new nationality markings which would be seen on all aircraft after mid-May 1942), consisting of an 18" square fin flash and 18" diameter fuselage roundel.  Codes were painted in Red.


Submitted to HTC, even though we don't log a lot of night flying... ;)

Nice work, as usual, Jocko.

I suspect that this skin will be the most common for a very long time, much like the black 110G.

Was the underside all black too?

Xasthur:  Yes, all black.  No nationality markings were carried on the wings at all, just the tiny ones on the fuselage and the flashes.

Hehe, that's good to hear.  I'm a Canuck with a lot of RCAF Spit references burning up my book shelves, so I'm trying to throw more Canadian content into AH2  :D

HTC says they've accepted my 401 RCAF Mk Vb (see this thread)  http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,229397.0.html (http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,229397.0.html) but it hasn't shown up in the latest skin pack although the Mk Ia I sent them did.  I think it has to do with the abundance of Mk Vs already in the game, no room in the inn for me yet  ;)

Lots of skins didn't make it into this pack. I suspect there will be another update in the not too distant future.
